I know theres a good amount of intelligent people on this site who know what they're doing with computers, so I figured instead of risking the Steam forums or Bioware, I'll ask you guys first
It's pretty straightforward, a while ago during the massive sales on Steam I bought Mass Effect 1 for about £5, however when I go to try and play it, it gets to the main menu screen and my computer restarts
I USED to have a third-hand Radeon HD3850 that my buddy lent me, I know have a Radeon HD4890 and I still get the same issue
I've turned off automatic-restart on my comp settings so I can see a blue screen instead of my comp restarting. I'll put the code down below
I don't have many PC games, especially that rival ME1 in terms of hardware requirements, though I have had Bad Company 2 at about 47% for the past two months which I am downloading right now to test, though I played the beta and while it didn't run very well, it actually ran.
I've also tried validating game files using Steam, but that did nothing.
I've also got Fallout 3, which is set at ultra since my new GFX card, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, as well as Team Fortress 2 which also run well on high, no problems with these at all.
Blue Screen Error:
stop: 0x0000008e(0xc0000005,0xa7f4e3cd,0x9b63ba48,0x000 00000)
hazoxzk.sys - Address A7F4E3CD base at A7F01000, datestamp 432E7C9B
My specs are as follows:
Windows XP SP 3
Pentium D 3.00ghz
3GB RAM
Radeon HD4890
800W PSU
I know it's a pretty average comp, but account to CanYouRunIt.com I surpass the minimum requirements and meet the recommended specs...
Any help here would be greatly appreciated, though I'm not very computer literate so you might have to really dumb things down for me...
(Also I'm not sure if this should be in gaming discussion or not, but it's loosely based around a game I guess?)
