I am a very big Team Fortress 2 player, which is a very famous free to play game. Now, TF2 has a
great f2p system, you can get any item without paying a dime. But even with the best f2p system
outside of the entire game being free and everything being given to the player, TF2 can not
escape the awful problem that plagues free to play games. The free to play players. Now I know this sounds awful, but I fucking hate them. They ruin TF2 for me. They come in with no knowledge
of the game and don't really care to learn. They ruin matches and taint the skill pool. I honestly wish Team Fortress 2 cost something, just to keep out all the people who refuse to play the game correctly and ruin it for the rest. I know that people will talk about how great it is
to let people try a game out, so let them. Give them their own servers, with limited map and item selections to encourage them to buy them game. And if they don't, that is perfectly fine, so the rest of us can play in peace.

a) For the love of Eru, stop artificially entering page breaks into the middle of sentences.

b) It seems that your problem has more to do with new players, rather then just free players. Instead of just complaining about the newbies, have you tried to impart some of your accrued knowledge and experience? Or, couldn't you simply only play matches with your friends, thus ensuring if there is a new, inexperienced player, they will be on the other team?

1. Don't play in public servers.
2. Join a clan, team or whatever you call it these days.
3. Play in competitive, organized games.
Problem solved?

This is true. Particularly if you don't have any friends to help you get started, going into online play is a daunting experience. Although I'm sure most of the TF2 community is lovely, ever since I bought it I've been too nervous to go online with it because of the reactions to new players you see that range somewhere between aggravated annoyance and venomous bile. I don't know if there's an ingame messaging system to hurl abuse on the fly, but I think I got enough stocked from forums and whatnot to keep me worried.

Could you not just make a pre-made team with your mates and take advantage of all the cannon fodder knocking about?

I hate Free to Play games because despite their name they are often much, much more expensive compared to a retail release if you want the same amount of content.
