Why is the Quote reply notification gone?

I have been getting replies from people but the Quote notification I get in numbers on the top right of the website is gone? It no longer adds up numbers.

Pardon if this has been shown in a thread announcment, I have not seen any news or announcements of this.

It borked. A fix was posted by another user but we don't know if it permanently fixes it or not

There is a fix posted in there too. So far, the fix has stayed working.
