Why isn't The Escapist up for a webby this year?

So I got a thing on my facebook about Cracked being nominated for a webby this year and while I was voting for Cracked I thought I'd go vote for the Escapist but when I went to websites-game related, the Escapist wasn't on the list of choices. So what gives? I'm not sure what can be done about this or anything. I just thought I'd throw it out for general discussion cause honestly EA gets put on the list but the Escapist doesn't.

Pretty sure the Escapist has won for like 3 years in a row or something. Not 100% certain, but pretty sure.

I've never really understood that sentiment. I guess having a forum that is properly regulated, where people can discuss topics in peace, knowing that trolls and people that flame will get what's coming to them, is considered a laughing stock on the internet.

I for one think the Escapist should be a template/example of how to properly run a forum.

I have been on many a forum before and after I came to the Escapist, and not one other has been worthwhile for me to actually get into, stay, and actually spend hours posting and discussing subjects.

I love the Mods and moderation system of this site; they are great at keeping this place neat and tidy, and keep it from devolving into the chaos of what most internet forms tend to become.

We don't need all the typical internet riffraff mussing up our perfect lawn. =P

Properly controlled you mean, in my opinion, a forum needs a bit of chaos and humour to be a great place. And I for one, love trolls and the occasional flaming.

Variety in the spice of life, the internet would be a very boring place if every forum was like the escapist.

Eh, I always thought the mods on here were a bit too uptight and ban-happy. As I said, a bit of chaos does a forum good.

That's it lads and ladies, time to pack up and find another forum because this place isn't great or popular enough after winning several webbys over the years and attracting tens of thousands of loyal regular patrons...

I've been on a number of forums where bringing up the escapist makes people spit mockery and rage.

Coming from someone new or unfamiliar to this site. The Escapist has won a Webby three times in a row, explain your term of "isn't really that great" so yeah, that's the reason why people should be surprised.

Except that the things listed in that thread are either out-dated, incorrect or (the equivalent of) quote mined to oblivion. Every website has these problems. You simply can't review a forum like that. The only criticism I saw was that the escapist members have their heads shoved up their arse. Which to an extent can be seen to be true... If, you know, you are the type of person who enjoys spamming lolcats, calling everyone ******/fag/jew and not knowing the meaning of adult civilised discussion. Anywhere that doesn't tolerate trolls is painted this way.
