For me video games were all fun and carefree when it was just NPC enemies I died and ussually it was just "Oh darn I died guess I'll try again" then MP started suddenly I was fighting real people who were harder to kill dying became more humiliating I was laughed at and I started to get angrier with every game I played, I tried as hard as I could but I still couldn't be good at the game and watching others suceed at it infuritated me.

My story probaly provides an exclamation to why people take X-box too seriously it becomes a sport but without any respect. Its that damn competion mostly fueld by MLGs and D-bag athletes who also happen to play X-box (No offense to any athletes on this forum but for some people I know playing sports can make you a bit too competitive) All the competition stresses people out and they become obsessed with getting good in their obsession they become delusional and re-assure themselves "I am good" even if they aren't they just start blaming other players and from there the agression grows.

I personally adore the immaturity on XBox Live. It is ridiculously fun to fuck with people's minds on that when they get pissed off. You see, I'm a girl. A girl that is good at fighting games and FPSs. So in order to stop the shrieking, I just have to talk. Once. Then they have no idea what to say. At least until they devolve into petty insults like "whore." Even though my behavior would have nothing to do with my skill level.

People do get obscenely obnoxious sometimes, though. That's why muting is good too.

I remember when I was getting death threats because I was doing so well in Gear of War2. I was in party chat so I messaged the guy back something like this.

"I'm a 9 year old, please don't hurt me."

Remarkably, he never questioned my age and continued to attack me. I never broke character but after awhile I just lost interest.

I thought my messaged would just wake him up and show him how foolish it was to be so mad at someone you don't even know over a video game. But I guess not.....

I only play online occasionally, i mean, I get bored easily with single player on COD or Halo on a slow day. Half of the interest in doing so is to listen to guys like that. I think it's hilarious. But if it really does get bad, there's always the report button/block. If the asshats are really becoming a toll, just report. On the occasions where someone starts to troll me, the abuse subsides slightly if i speak. Sometimes it escalates if they find out you're a girl though, so that's why the mute button is your best friend. Although the funniest hate i've ever gotten is 'Get off of Call of duty and get back in the kitchen.'

Yes i have and from the way you sound you are pretty intelligent (most who hang out here are)

1. yes
2. i ignored/ defeated him with logic. also (play halo mostly) am sometimes a annonyance but i usually grin and bear it.
3. uhh number 2?

ignore it and just block his messaging and report him for shits and giggles. question though how old was he? if he was anything younger then 15 then just use logic, they have none.

in a nut shell, ignore use logic, fight fire with fire, and report/mute/block mainly for shits and giggles ( i love that phrase)

Go you, I have immense amounts of respect for you. I'd ask for your Gamertag, but you'd probably kick my arse.

Man, you just can't get away from this anymore, just keep your mike off unless you hear some decent people, and if they do send you messages constantly, just block communication.

Being on a private ventrilo server to laugh on helps a hell of a lot.

The key thing is to just let it all wash over you. But, the moment you see a contradiction, bite down on it. The more of an idiot you make the guy look, the better you come off and the more angry he'll get. So he'll go on even more of a tirade. You can just keep stoking the flames then, and his hands'll be shaking too much to play properly any more.

I don't know what it is with these guys, maybe it's how they learned to act growing up.

1.) Yes, I have, plenty of times.

2.) After I got tired of responding to their remarks with valid points and receiving invalid responses, I simply hit the block button and chose to avoid them.

3.) Block + Mute + a cool head = Gaming experience not ruined

I bet everyone has had a similar experience, except for maybe the 90 plus kills. I've never had that one, *sigh. What I can't stand is all the racism I hear over xbox live. Its rampant. It makes me wonder if these people are like that all the time, or if its just the whole anonymity thing. No minority group is safe from ignorance on live.

Thats why I'm trying to build my friends list of nice people who are polite and don't take games so seriously.

I don't even have my mic in unless I'm in a private xbox live party. However, I have done something like what happened to the OT. The guy started to flame us, so we wasted him by shouting insults into our mics until he shut up.

I think you need to be above a certain IQ or Rage Limit to play games. One thing these companies can do:
If the microphone keeps going over a certain volume, they can mute the player.

I play counter-strike on the computer, and the little tykes' voices piss me off, but that's sharing my experience.

Also, I am in favor of being able to punch idiots through the TV or monitor. Although it may look like you are just breaking the screen, you are really hurting whoever is on the other side.

First off, you can report such people by viewing their gamercard. They will probably be banned.

Personally, I've never actually had someone stalk me like that, Also, 92 kills is NOT unreasonable on shipment, I've gotten over 120 using the RPD. The modding he is referring to is only for SEMI automatic weapons as far as I know.

It seems like this ***** is just looking for an excuse to harass someone. Just report him and ignore his messages.

It's a big world, and a lot of douches have money.

The answer is known among the scientific community as the "Online Disinhibition Effect".

Most people know it by the Penny Arcade name, "GIFT":
Greater

F***wad
Theory

Basically: Normal Person (or prepubescent boy) + Anonymity + Audience = Total F***wad

I'd dive into depth, but that requires actual research and I am quite frankly too damn lazy.

I really don't know where to begin here.

I just finish playing Call Of Duty 4 on the 360 and I've had the worst time on XBL for years.
It started with a game on shipment and after running around with a Scorpion, getting 92 kills (that's my all time best woohoo!) the after game was pretty heavy.

Basically I was accused of "modding" and normally I keep quiet because if I spent my time arguing on XBL, I be there till the end of time. After 5 minutes of him calling me a "cheating piece of shit" I flipped switched on my mic and started to laugh and argue about how pathetic he was being.

A American guy on my team then decided to join in and help me saying I was doing nothing wrong, to which the guy just replied "oh shut the fuck up you Yankee n******". After that I gave up messaged the American telling him thanks for helping and was on my way.

Did it stop? nope and now I'm getting constant messages from him and his friends telling me to go hang myself.....I know people I just don't understand it.

Anyway to ask some questions

1) Have you ever encountered someone like this on XBL?

2) What happened and what did you do?

3) Oh and some general tips to help dealing with these situations.

I did search, if I missed a recent thread then I apologize
I feel like making an example of someone. What is his gamertag.
