Puberty. It's hell.

Of everything in life I've experienced, that's the one thing I'd want to remove.

Feeling you know it all, everything in life is out to get you, your body won't respond, your brain won't respond....just ugh.

Interesting thread is interesting. Some claim the majority is responsible for the stereotype, some claim the minority, but no-one is claiming young adolescents ("teens" is a stupid word) actually aren't immature, obnoxious, falsely pretentious brats. It's good to see people uniting under a common hatred.

As for me, I hate them because they're idiots. Then again, I hate everyone because we're idiots, so does that really qualify? We may never know.

Because most teenagers are content to letting Justin Bieber represent them socially.

Its always the few who ruin it for the many, every age group is categorized as something demeaning or stupid. I don't take it personally that old people look at me and think im a alkie

So are they!

Because they belong to a group different then us and we attack them (verbally) to elevate ourselves.

altho I can't fathom where "spoiled" came from; I don't see any of them that way
Youth today get lots of technology that makes everything easier for them, or more enjoyable for them. A few decades ago, people had to go to the library to do research. Since that was a problem, someone invented the Internet: the ultimate research tool. iPods, TV, video games, computers, cell phones, etc. all make things easier for the youth. When my parents were kids, if they were bored, they read books or played outside. Nowadays, if I'm bored, I go on the computer or watch TV or play video games. (Not to say I don't read, but for the sake of the discussion, let's just ignore that.)
I recall looking at pictures of the playgrounds my mom played at: cement, sharp, pokey, eye-level bits of metal, etc. If I go and look at the playground I played at, the differences are rather jarring: gravel/sand, rubber/plastic, nothing sticking out at eye level. Everything these days is a lot safer for us than it was for our parents. I mean, lawn darts? We'd never get a toy that could do grievous harm to ourselves or someone else, but my mom and dad had lawn darts as kids.
It's basically a Catch-22; our youth gets everything easier and more convenient for them, and then they expect everything to be easy and convenient, but it's not like we can just take away technology. I can't imagine what my life would be like without a computer.

OT: Teenagers have entered what I call the Dickhead Years (12-16/17 years). They are the target audience of most things, believe they know everything, and expect everything to go according to what will benefit them. They don't show respect and act like... well, dickheads, to everyone and everything around them. I know lots of teens who aren't like that, but the dickheads are unfortunately the ones who end up bringing the most attention to themselves. There was an article in our newspaper near Remembrance Day; a teenager had spray-painted a swastika onto the cenotaph dedicated to our veterans. I was angry, not only because I have loved ones who are soldiers, but because by however old this kid was (I think he was 16), he should know that these people died defending others and should be honoured.

Because from what I've seen, teenagers have the 'I know everything' attitude, don't take no for an answer and think the world owes them something. Don't get me wrong, there are some very down the earth teenagers who are above that kind of attitude, but I work in a shopping centre and see the attitude of the former example more often than not.

Well, as one of said young teenagers, I present this:

Those of us who are loud enough to be noticed by everyone else are usually idiots, bigots, or a combination of the two. Which doesn't sit well with those of us who aren't...

My questions fellow escapists is why so much hate on young teenagers? Most people assume that were all high pitched and spoiled now what caused you to reach this conclusion?
Being a person who just got out of highschool. Its because they simply are lower forms of life.

Because they typically are.

Like someone said before me, the most annoying ones get the most attention.

Unfortunately, most teens are just like that. It's the rare special one that actually has their head together and doesn't act like a little shit all the time. Besides, who the hell would take someone who actually likes Justin Bieber seriously?

Your mistaking teenagers for teenage girls. Teenage boys hate him in more ways any other group could understand.

I don't hate young teenagers... *looks at half of current class*

Point taken, most of us deserve it, but there are some genuinely good mature ones, I sincerely hope that I fall into that category. I'm definitely not spoiled, the rest you will have to tell me about though, I've never been a good judge of myself.

Give this man the cigar, you've hit the nail on the head. Youre right, all the attention goes to the idiots which act as the sterotype for teens

I dislike specific young teens, as stated by everyone else, but I would say one particular thing irritates me. Guys my age, when they ask me out or flirt and stuff, have a particular level, even when we were that age. The young ones seem to have no chivalry or courtesy, which naturally makes me want to use violence.

That and it seems like they are more idiotic than the previous generation.

Because some of the ones I've met are obnoxious windbags who think they can do whatever they want without a second thought. Then again I hate kids because my generation in Australia got fucked over by the Howard/Rudd governments, so it's skipped my generation in terms of equal job opportunities.

As a teenager who has to talk to 14-16 year olds on a daily basis, this is why:

Always trying to be different or special and avoid doing things right for this sake
Rude
Stupid arguments
Disrespectful
Lazy
Ungrateful
A lot or either a whingy ***** or cocky little shits
Thinks the world revolves around each other
Small minded (although lately I've been finding that it may just be people, not teenagers)
Trying to look older which is really stupid
They make online gaming my personal hell
Bitchiness and back stabbing involved (although again I fear this may just be people, not just teenagers)
Spoilt
Always want to be seen as tough or "hard" (not in a sexual way)
In England a lot of them turn to drink, smoking or sex from as young as 13

Also Justin Bieber is a teenager, that's a good reason to hate them
