I'm just curious. Why do people always vote for the SWAT game type in Reach?

Most of the time it's just one person dominating and everyone else doing miserably. I don't think I've actually ever seen a game of SWAT being passed. What is it about it?
Is it the fact that people for some reason think it's piss easy to kill everyone else because of no shields?

People seem to forget that they have no shields also; and run into situations where I'm waiting to headshot them quite a lot.

I'm not really complaining; I just want to know why everyone likes me killing them so much.

I don't mind SWAT in 4v4 team slayer. On the right map it can be serisouly intense. What I have a problem with is when people vote for team SWAT on hemorrhage in the big team battle playlist. Why the fuck would you want to play on the biggest single map in the game, with the most amount of players you can have and then remove vehicles, weapon spawns, shields and have everyone spawn with precision weapons? A campfest on that size map is so fucking dull. People are so stupid it's unbearble.

I hate swat.
I specifically play halo to get away from FPS's where you can kill someone before they have a chance to react.
Why don't these people go play cod if they want that?

Swat's okay, but I'm not fussed. Also I've seen several games of SWAT be passed. It's no more popular than any other game type.

SWAT is nice in small doses, most of the time I hate the hyper-competitive nature of it that just doesnt ooze fun for me, assassinations are beautiful though and extremely satisfying.

If we are talking about Police Quest: SWAT games, I love them.
If we are talking about Halo series, I hate them.

It's called "He who shoots first, wins". Sounds similar to the "Sniper Only" fad that plagued the original UT.

SWAT is ok, if the map isn't something as minimal as countdown, where you get spawnkilled every other second. I like to avoid it though, since it usually ends up a spawnkilling festival on every other map too.

I enjoy it. As a person who always aims for the head in Halo and therefore wins most one on one encounters SWAT is right up my alley. Plus it teaches body shot players to aim for the head and develop that skill which will make them more successful in other game types. Its a win-win

SWAT was my favorite game-type in Halo 2, but they had to have done something in it in REACH because now if feels bland to me.

But I really don't mind it all that much, what REALLY annoys me is when people ONLY pick Snipers on BTB, or Rocketfight on Firefight.

I remember back when people could be happy with the default guns...

hell i always get stuck playing team snipes. I fucking hate team snipes, all the lvls are just shitty for sniping. I Love SWAT and Elite Slayer, but if Team Snipes is in the same play list then everyone fucking chooses that one.

I used to be awesome at swat with the BR. But I just cant win with the dmr, which is why I always vote against swat, even if it means voting for another gametype I dont like.

Off topic: What does DMR stand for anyway?

I think it's one of the best game types that has come to halo. I love it now that the DMR is out and it's pretty damn good on the new maps. So I really have nothing to complain about. It's just a fun game type. You have to remember that Swat got it's own game type in Halo 3 because it was popular and it still is popular 1 1/2 years later.

SWAT was my favorite gametype in Halo 2 and 3. It stands to reason that it would be good in Reach as well, though I haven't played it.

It is HIGHLY host-dependent in Halo 2 and Reach though, hitscan weapons and all. Being host in SWAT basically makes you invincible.

SWAT is a good game mode in Halo (the 3rd one anyway, I don't know if they have changed it in Halo: Reach, because I haven't got it)

But I can see why some people hate it.

DMR stands for Designated Marksman Rifle.

I hate SWAT with a huge passion. Same goes for Snipers. As the OP said, it's usually just one person - or a few people - who live only for that gametype dominating all the other sane people who actually want to play a game in which there is more than one gun (alright, one gun and a mini version of it if we're being generous); it takes more than one lucky shot to the head area to kill somebody; there are more armour abilities thus giving you more tactical options and mixing up the gameplay beyond the extremely boring point-shoot-die-respawn-die routine; the combat takes place at a variety of ranges rather than just medium-long, which again is boring; and, finally, in which there are grenades, which, like the Armour Abilities, serve to mix up the ordinary shooting routine and make it more than a routine which only inspires boredom and the occasional bout of extreme irritation.

I don't play Halo for SWAT. I play Halo for Halo's gameplay. SWAT removes most of this. The one and only thing I like about it is the badass way the announcer says its name.

because they like Call of Duty, for some reason.

the only reason I ever liked the Halo multyplayer is because of the shields
you could take a headshot then return fire
instead of taking a headshot then respawning, taking another headshot, repeat.
