Why the Hate on Soulja Boy ?

Now, that out of the way I wish to digress for a moment. More a question for the older members really.

Are todays young musicians/celebrities much worse than the young up and comers of the last generation and before (like rock and roll coming to life)? I wonder because while I assumed the older generations dissaprove of alot of youth culture, I haven't seen many direct attacks from experienced artists. But recently there has been some activity between Miley the disney brat and radiohead/jamie foxx, and soulja boy with many many many older artists. Is the disapproval greater?

I can't help but feel that the new generation of stars feels like the sun shines out of their ass and they breathe perfume and the world should love them unconditionally. Do they really feel they are more wise than people who have 20+ years on them? I cannot comprehend.

Good point, but it almost seems as if some of the "older" groups disapprove of how quick these kids gained stardom, and instead of trying to help them remain relevant or help them really learn show business, they resort to bashing.

Don't get me wrong, some of these kids are disrespectful little pricks, but some of these criticisms just reek of bitterness.

I could give you a hundred fuckin' reasons off the top of my head why he should be in a classroom instead of a recording studio. Secondly, he's the exact type of "bro gamer" that makes anyone who plays an FPS look bad. Or an Xbox. Not like I'm a 360 fan, or that FPS is the only genre of game I like, but I hate stereotyping anything, especially gamers and such.

Thirdly, on that topic, YOU CANNOT GET MORE STEREOTYPICAL THAN SOULJA BOY. Ignoring how his lyrics are about the same thing all modern mainstream rap is, he himself is...basically a shallow materialistic 14 year old. His "360 callout" video shows him going through his 40 games like they mean nothing and cost nothing.

Fourth, he's a fucking moron. His "review" (AND I USE THAT TERM LOOSELY) of Braid makes me want to cry. Because those are the people who paid for the game to enjoy it. At the time, it was not available on PC and this was a huge injustice to me because I thought I'd actually appreciate it.

Fifth, his ego. I could write a lot about it but I don't have to...Just watch or listen to any of his songs. I MEAN IN THE YAHH VIDEO HIS RINGTONE IS HIS OWN SONG. HOW CONCEITED DO YOU HAVE TO BE?

Sixth, his attitude, reflected by some of his songs..."YAHH ***** YAHH" especially - So tired of having fans, he makes a song about telling fans to get the fuck out of his face...

I could go on forever, so I'll stop here.

I'm sure people have plenty of justifiable reasons to hate him. Even though hate is a waste of effort most of the time, certain people deserve it. After all, hate without effort is simply apathetic depression.

I don't follow rap, however I believe that Soulja Boy satirizes rap but part of his act is to act 100% serious about it (or else it wouldn't be funny) that is why he's so heavily promoted.

If he was serious, I don't see how that makes him any more, or any less than any other rapper out there.

That said, again, I don't follow rap. It's just not my kind of music.
