First, for anyone who doesn't know, the Wild West is a minimal rules forum that was added to the site several months ago. It is accessible only to Publisher Club members and only through the forums page. Most of the users on this site were made Pub Club members back in March, with a couple exceptions.
If you are unsure if you have Pub Club go to your profile page and if you have it you should see a little gold 'e' next to your avatar.

Okay, that out of the way, I posted this thread in the WW forum, but I'm curious what those that don't visit it think too.

I've compared how many threads and posts are made in each forum over the course of a week.

Couldn't care less? I didn't even know there was a Wild West until someone complained and it got removed for the What's Hot or whatever thread list on the front page.
And as someone who can still google Anything-in-the-worldChan to see dank memes and shitposts, it straight up baffles me why anyone makes a big deal about it.

To me hearing that WW is the 2nd most popular forum is like hearing the janitor's sub basement bathroom over in engineering building, clear across campus, is the favorite spot for the 'kewl' kids to get together and stab themselves in the knees with pencils.
Good for them I guess, but for the life of me I don't get why you can't just do that in the dorms.

With very little content being created for The Escapist, there are fewer and fewer reasons for people to come here specifically. Few USPs. One of the few there is, however, is a forum without moderation. It still presents a reason for people to come, whereas the site has thrown away most of its other reasons people came. That's my take.

The WW feels more like an attempt to be like 4chan, and I always liked how not like 4chan (or reddit) the Escapist was.

I try to think of places to go after the Escapist, but there is no place like here I can think of. Its why, as pissed off about certain things here as I am, I havent done something super duper extreme that will get me banned or something, cause I really want to stay.

Most of the topics in the WW seem pointless, and what few that dont get pointless quick. On top of that, Id rather the main forum get the actual worthwhile topics. I was called out there for complaining about this. "Well, why dont YOU make topics then?" Cause if I am gonna make one, Im gonna make it where everyone can partake.

True. If I have something sensible to say, I'm probably going to post it in off-topic where its more likely to be read and taken seriously, if I'm board at work and I want to talk about my remote then its the Wild West for me.

I'm in the same boat. If you want to be a channer, go to 4Chan, or 8Chan, or KlendathuChan, TangoUrillaChan. And if you view your life's value on thumb ups from stranger, go to Reddit.
If you want to talk video games without being called a noob or fag go to the Escapist.

Considering it's exclusive nature, I highly doubt that. It splits traffic, and is restricted to a group that will only dwindle progressively and can't really grow.

Personally, the User Group function is what keeps me here, and led me there in the first place. GT's message board died about half a year ago, and a good deal of us migrated here, just to create a user group to serve as our ghetto.
