Ahh alas, I remember how much hype this game received, and how ambitious and cool it sounded.
I remember watching the reveal trailer over and over because it was so damn cool.
But now it is dead and never to return I would think. Even if they did repair it or whatever, I doubt it can compete with the other MMO giant(s?)our there...
When it was running not enough people played it. MMOS are massively expensive to runs and Hellgate just bled money from the moment it started, nothing significant has changed since it shut down in the west so there's no reason to think a restart would be any different.
No company is going to pick up such an obviously doomed project.
There's a team that seeks to port the SP version to the Torque engine (I'm part of them), and there is some talk of eventual LAN servers.
I still play the SP version occasionally.
The single player was fun, but I found the multiplayer redundant. There wasn't really much call to play with others, especially as most of the game was a cakewalk enough alone.

possibly. their was a article on mmosite about how they annouced in Korea that they might bring back HGL as HellGate:Ressurrection. I might have misread but I hope its true.
