As technology evolves computer companies look like they are moving towards these All-In-One computers. Mac with their iMac just needs to get rid of the keyboard and mouse. I think Dell makes some. Other companies I haven't looked up. With the progression of touch screen companies want to use that as much as possible. Now do you think PC gaming much be wiped from existance? And that we would all be forced to by future generation consoles if we want to game?! I'd find it pretty frustrating to play Call of Duty on a touch screen.

Oh heres an answer for those of you that might say "buy a keyboard and mouse." So here's an answer computer companies are trying to get rid of that.

Not a hope in hell. Besides, who the hell gives a shit what the OEM companies try to do?

Nah, it'll never become obsolete. Developers will for the most part, with exception of exclusivity deals, try and increase profits by making games for all platforms where possible. Besides, PC gaming has a lot of potential and is often favoured by gamers for the ability to mod games.

Oblivion and its predecessor Morrowind are classic examples of games that needed an insane amount of community created mods to make them playable.

I don't think that PC gaming will die, but most games now are created with the consoles in mind.

Doubtful. People own computers for work, so it will always make sense to develop games for a system that people already have.

They could call it a "games terminal." Companies could make their own types of terminals and make games that only work on them. They could tempt other companies to make games for it with promises that marketing costs will be shared.

It seems like an idea that could work for a small amount of people but it is a bit weak sauce compared to a proper computer system. I don't think it would catch on. Consumers are too smart to be so easily manipulated by marketing messages.

Definitely. And it won't die because there are still quite a few people who use only PC.

most of those touch screens come with the compatibility for a keyboard and mouse. Ive got to use a couple on display at Best Buy. There are plenty of things on a touch screen that would be very painful to do not just gaming, so as for no more keyboard and mouse not going to happen unless of course some full virtual interface is made.

PC gaming isn't going to die it's here to stay like it or not.

Keyboard and mouse have always been one of the best controls for the computer and games alike. (Controllers defeat it in "Easy to learn" but you're allowed more controls for the keyboard) PC gaming isn't going to die just because the companies are making so called "Touch screen computers" and such, I think it still holds the square as the most quality medium for gaming. (If you have a CPU specialized for gaming of course.)

Exactly. There are also people who want to branch out and get a gaming PC to play PC exclusive games.

Like me for example. :]

I'm sure there will always be pc gaming. And you need a mouse and keyboard for typing, don't see how they can get rid of that tbh. It wouldn't really work with a touch-screen.

Plus there are people who have a mixture of all consoles, and use their PCs for FPS's, RTS's, and such.
Really, the PC is going nowhere, and part of me thinks that a lot of the people who say it is are fanboys fooling themselves.

I don't think it will - I've just branched out from PC and I know there are a lot more like me, though I feel that I'll become more console-centric as I can't really afford a good gaming PC at the moment.
