Will the Dark Knight Rises be good?

Note that I said "good" instead of "as good as The Dark Knight" because I'm going to agree with Bob on the notion that there's almost no way it can be as good as The Dark Knight.

But what do you think everybody? Will it be the perfect film? Will it be good on the same level of Return of the Jedi where everyone likes it but not as much as the 2nd? Or will it bring such a crushing disappointment that they have to make a reboot in 5 years just to make up for it (not alluding to anything at all)?

EDIT: Yes, I know that you can't KNOW whether it's good or not, I basically wanted to see what your expectations/bets for the movie were.

It's probably gonna be "Pretty good. Not as good as Dark Knight. 9/10 Would bang"

Christopher Nolan's a competent filmmaker.

It's not going to match up to either the hype or the anti-hype.

Let's have a lookse here in my crystal ball? Hmm, I seem to have a problem. I don't seem to have a crystal ball. I guess we'll just have to watch the movie ourselves and form our own opinions.

Of course itll be good, there are people who arent excited about it because they "know" itll be good.

Lets hope its not like return of the jedi because I fuckin hate that movie and believe it to be the weakest of all the star wars films(including prequels)

but to even postulate to be bad....no way. At its worst it wont meet expectations of some peoples hype. which is probably sky high.

Im just sad with the finality and the enemy choices, catwoman/bane. No nolan riddler makes me sad. but I guess that guy in the dark knight who knew batman id was like riddler, he was even a redhead.

Ps- I hate bob, just wanted to say.

I think it'll be very popular. I doubt I'd like it though, I'm one of those crazies who didn't really like The Dark Night, and enjoyed batman begins far more. Batman trying to be very gritty is just silly to me.

I have used Space Magic and asked 3 questions.

1) Is there an objective meaning to human life?

2) Can all conflict ever really be ended?

3) Will The Dark Knight Rises be a good movie?

Apparantly, the answer to one of those questions is 'yes' but I'm not sure which.

All I can really say is I hope it will be very good. There has been no shortage of crappy films with amped up trailers. All we can do is wait and see.

Hyped way too much. TDKR Looks like an average action film from what I've seen. I still consider the Dark Knight really good, but that's only because of the Heath, something that doesn't happen often at all.

Dude, that reminds me of the rumors floating around before the movie's details were released. People started talking about David Tennant playing the Riddler.

David Tennant. As the Riddler.

Can we just hire Nolan to make another film after this for the sole purpose of that actually happening?

I have a pre-disposition against the Nolan Batman movies so while I'll likely enjoy it the first time I watch it, I don't think I'd call it a good movie or, even buy it once it comes out. Maybe when the price drops but I don't see myself liking it. At this point I'm close to admitting I hate Begins (I don't though, because of the one scene where Batman, Batmans those thugs on the dock) and Joker made Dark Knight for me (even though he isn't my favorite Joker). I don't see myself liking Rises...but that's all personal. It likely will be good I just won't like it.

You don't have a time machine?!? I thought everyone did. Sheesh, get with the times, dude!

Seriously though, I suspect it'll be a good film, since Nolan's track record is pretty dang stellar, but I otherwise have no real expectations of it. I'll just sit down and try to enjoy the silly thing.

I agree. It is going to be disappointing just because it won't be a big deal like the Dark Knight was (in light of Heath Ledgers death) but nor will it be a horrible flop. It will just be a run of the mill, even perhaps better than average costumed hero summer blockbuster. It won't be big news and thus will fail to live up to both the hype and anti-hype as you so eloquently put it.

You utter bastard.
Now I have to go for the rest of my life wondering what it would have been like if David Tennant had played the Riddler.
My life will forever be incomplete...

Actually I remember why he didn't take the role. He didn't upgrade so I deleted him.

I really just dont think so.

Catwoman always has drug any batman story down in my personal estimation, and Bane just too comical for Nolans offerings and ridiculous from any other perspective of the franchise. The ONLY way I see it is if its focused on the breaking of the bat story arc which it does seem to be, but theres sooo many ways that it could go wrong.

Realistically I am expecting roughly about a 6.5/7.0 out of 10

Almost certainly will not be as good as Dark Knight, but I'm still expecting it to be pretty damn good.

We'll know in about a month.

OK, absolutely no idea what that means...
