Wind Waker would have been a better game if you had a bigger ship.

Sorry King of the Red Lions but you are essentially a dinghy with a sail. And sailing the mostly empty ocean on a small boat is a bit boring.

The boredom would have been alleviated if you were on a bigger ship with a crew and imagine, the ship gets upgraded and better throughout the gameplay. Customize the captain's cabin with things like mini games. Have a crew with perosnal charcaters, etc.

I mean if you want to sail the vast seas, you need a damn good ship to be in, a ship that feels homely.

Maybe if the point of the game was being a pirate. Not saying your idea would not make for a fun game, but I dont think it was the goal of Windwaker.

Main problems with sailing were the tedium of redirecting the wind and the terrible naval combat.

Me: "The player should have been able to manipulate the wind without having to remove the sail, go into a menu, select the instrument, go back to gameplay, play the melody, choose the direction and wait for the cutscene to end. There were many moments in which I sailed with barely any wind or rowed the boat because I didn't want to repeat that slow process. And removing the sail to attempt to aim the canon as everybody shot at you and you kept flying out of the boat was annoying."
alot of those problems were fixed in Wind Waker HD.

the advantage of that second screen meant if you wanted to do things like change weapons or look at the map all you had to do is look at the touchscreen and interact with that without actually effecting what was happening on the main tv.

Sounds like a fair idea. You can add more to the ship and give you more to do with it. I don't believe there was much do do well you were actually sailing.

(Windwalker remade in the same gameplay style as breath of the wild...)
