Windows 8 really is very good for tablets and touch-screen laptops. It has many of the features of windows 7 coupled with many of the features of the average ios/android tablet. Navigation and multitasking is pretty simple.A3sir said:Is it a OS that should have be launched for tablets, not desktops?
That is the most hilarious thing I have ever read. Windows has an estimated marketshare of 70%.xefaros said:and due to internet integration and due to being the most pirated OS windows might fall from the leading operating system
If they want they can stop people pirating their OS.It wont happen overnight but its pretty easy to happenoplinger said:That is the most hilarious thing I have ever read. Just because windows 8 came out, doesn't mean it's going to drive everyone away. Most will just stick with 7. Just like when vista came out, we mostly stuck with XP.
I don't think we're getting DX12 for a long while. Windows 8 comes with 11.1. We haven't even heard microsoft talking about DX12.thesilentman said:I
Gaming? You won't be shafted with 7 until 2020, but if you want DX12 and less bloat on your system, go for it. Windows 8 isn't bad at all; it's just aimed at the wrong market.
Why would they want that? Its better for them to have Windows everywhere even if not trough legit ways then have Windows in some places but all of them legit. The same thing goes with photoshop, the big money maker here are the companies that have to buy the software (the packages that are actually expensive) unless they want to get fined and what better software to get then the one that everyone already knows how to use in their homes?xefaros said:If they want they can stop people pirating their OS.It wont happen overnight but its pretty easy to happen
I'll fix that. And DX11 isn't really anything to write home about as Vista and 7 have had DX11 already, it just depended on the hardware to utilize it fully. DX: HR ran on my laptop[footnote]Samsung rc512 with a GT 525, if need to know.[/footnote] with no issues while on my (admittingly old) Vista desktop[footnote]Has a AMD HD 5450.[/footnote] had me just install the latest drivers with DX11.oplinger said:I don't think we're getting DX12 for a long while. Um no. I put a free copy on my netbook with a 1Gb of ram and it runs much better than Windows 7 pro.Karoshi said:Windows 8 is good for touch-screens and nothing else. Thank God I haven't installed it, since it sounds like living hell to operate with a mouse.
Honestly, steer clear of that monster.
I believe that they tried it after getting some good reviews of Windows Phone 7 and the 360 dashboard. And if you use it on a tablet, Metro's not that bad. The only news MS has given us was that Metro would unify the desktop and mobile computing OS.ka_saa said:What I'd like to know...
Did they:
A. Think that the 360 dashboard was so amazing that they had to share that wonder with the PC people?
or
B. Mess up the 360 dashboard as testing for Windows 8?
I've run it in a virtual machine with even less RAM. I have to say that it was surprising to me at how I made it happen as Win8 was quite zippy; not the usual VM slowdowns that I usually get while running them.Baldr said:Um no. And you should really read about it more or at least try it before absurd comments. The core of Windows 7 is there. The desktop and taskbar, it just replaced the start menu with a start screen. It not that much of a difference if your use to pinning programs to the taskbar. Otherwise you have to launch them from desktop shortcuts or windows explorer.
They cleaned up the background processes. That why my netbook runs Win8 better because it loaded and running on less resources.
As a man who HAS installed it, it is actually incredibly easy to use with a mouse. I really like Windows 8, it is very fast, fluid, and Metro looks great.Karoshi said:Windows 8 is good for touch-screens and nothing else.
