For anyone who does not want to go to the site:

Variety reports that ?Fast and Furious? actress Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman in the ?Batman / Superman? movie.

Gadot will star alongside Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck in the ?Man of Steel? sequel.

The actress played a minor role in Universal?s summer blockbuster ?Fast and Furious 6″ with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.

Last month, Variety reported Gadot was one of three actresses testing for the role of the Amazon Princess.

The ?Fast and Furious? actress was reportedly up against Elodie Yung (?G.I. Joe: Retaliation?) and Olga Kurylenko (?Quantum of Solace?).

In comic iterations of the character, Wonder Woman aka Diana Prince has had romantic ties to Bruce Wayne/Batman.

The entry of the heroine helps pave the way for an eventual Justice League film that could compete with Disney and Marvel?s already well-established ?Avengers? storyline.

Wonder Woman?s path to the big screen has been notoriously difficult for Hollywood to navigate. There was a pilot in the 90s, a pilot in the 00s, and a pilot in 2011 helmed by David E. Kelly, which banked on sexing it up with Adrianne Palicki.

Even Joss Whedon couldn?t convince studio execs to give him a turn.

?I would go back in a heartbeat if I believed that anybody believed in what I was doing. The lack of enthusiasm was overwhelming,? he told Inquisitr.

A fanfic teaser earlier this year showed promise and had WW fans wanting more. Shot by Jesse V. Johnson, a stuntman turned director with some experience in action features, it cast Nina Bergman as the star-spangled hero.
I think it's a great idea, they seem to think they can't do a stand alone film, which is silly, but now they will have an opening to do so I guess. I'm happy so see they have got someone new-ish to play her, give some less known actor a chance at a big role, maybe she'll bring some fresh energy to the table.

What do you lot think?

I think DC/Warner Brothers is rushing this and trying to add too many characters in one movie. They clearly want some of that money Marvel is making but they aren't being careful and taking their time like Marvel. They're rushing it and it's only going to end poorly. Take your time DC, it'll be better that way.

If she is being added to a movie not about her chances are she'll just end up being the worthless LI who accomplishes jack shit and is only there to provide drama.

And then proof that nobody would want to see a movie about her because of how unpopular that is.

We'll just have to wait and see. No point in just being negative about it before we even see a trailer for the film.

Kinda true, but we'll see how they handle it. I know Avengers had the build up, but it had a lot more main heroes in it in which the build up was neccessary for a lot of them. Batman should need no real introduction as everyone knows that or origin story in this film apart from something about 2 mins long summing it up or something, Superman just had his in the movie before, so they'd just have to fill people in a bit on Diana's and then we're up to speed. I'm looking on the bright side, people have wanted her in a film, she's getting to be in one, time will tell as to how good it is, I'm not blind to that.

Yeah, that's the impression I'm getting from this as well, like they aren't quite sure what they're doing, but they really want to beat Marvel at their own game, so they're just kind of throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Hopefully I'm wrong though. I would LOVE for this movie to be good, I really would. I'll be seeing it out of a sense of obligation anyway, so I'd really like to enjoy it, but honestly nothing that's been announced about it has made me the least bit excited, and all of it has me wary of the final product, especially since I really didn't like Man of Steal.

Yeah, I'll go see it, but probably hate myself for it. Wonder Woman is more than worthy of her own solo movie. I'm still holding out for a Flash move (because if it's done right, it'll be awesome). But DC needs to take their time introducing characters, get the general public familiar with them. I mean, no one in the general public knew/cared who Iron Man was, and look what happened when the movie came out, he's now Marvel's most popular hero (well one of them, behind Wolverine and Spidey.)

Actually I think it's pretty brilliant.

This movie we get introduced to Batman/Wonder Woman.

Then we get The Batman movie, The Wonder Woman movie.

Then another Superman movie, with those two plus another JLA member.

I like it, instead of doing a bunch of seperate hero movies, they just base everything around Superman.

Glad I'm not the only one who sees it that way.

That said, I do worry about the film though, if they try put too much in just to draw a crowd, the film could suffer. People are saying the actress hasn't earned the role, which is a bit mean. Sometimes, to break out of what an actor has been stuck in, they need a chance to shine, hopefully this will be it for her. She had better be bulking up for the role though, Wonder Woman aint a stick figure.

Terrific, first live action movie featuring Wonder Woman is the sequel to a reboot of a franchise that isn't hers. Starring the talentless skinny eye candy from Fast and Furious. Woo progress.

I think it's great that they want a female co-star, but I don't think that Gadot really looks like an Amazon.

I also think they're just throwing characters together to make their own Avengers. WB clearly wants to cash in on the formula that Marvel has pretty much perfected, but they're trying to take shortcuts to do it and they're not going to be nearly as successful.

Gal Gadot!? seriously well what else can you expect from the same producers casting Ben Assface as Batman. How hard is it to get a Woman with strong facial features, even Gemma Arterton, Michelle Rodirguez or Scarlet Johansen would have been better much better. Wonder Woman needs to be robust, not a stick with untrained arms, and womanly features.

To be fair I think that they're going Superman > Big crossover thing > Everyone else's individual movie instead of the Avenger's route of Everyone's individual movie > Avengers > Stuff that spins out of the Avengers.

Seriously?

Not to pass judgement but she looks like she's suffering from bulimia, not a look an Amazon princess should have.
Looks aren't everything but you wouldn't cast a skinny guy to play Superman, would you?

The more I learn about this movie, the less that I'm interested? Then I remember that it's a Zack Snyder thing and that pretty much sums up my disappointment.

On the other hand, would you cast a guy a foot taller than Wolverine is in the comics?

Meh, really as of right now I don't care how much skinny she looks. Muscle, weigth, those things she can gain and if she was chosen because she was the one who stand out the most then I really don't have a problem. And if goes horribly wrong I supose they always pull a Bruce Banner and have her replaced in the next movie.

So, yeah, not completly losing my shit over this... yet.

Yeah, she can put the weight and muscle on. People often do for roles like this, and we'll just have to wait and see how she does.

Sure, actors do that all the time. Toby Maguire bulked up like crazy for spiderman, Hugh Jackman always spends months working out before playing Wolverine, so it's not unheard of in hollywood for an actor to train up for a role. Question is, how often do women do that? I can't really think of a single actress that "bulked up" for any role.
