Is it that hard? Perhaps it's just that I'm a young healthy man, and that I have a bit more time on my hands then most, but is it really that hard to hit up the gym? Or to grab a banana in the morning, rather than that bag of chips?

Why do people look for all of these quick weight loss ways rather than just doing it the right way? I just saw a special on the news about "Freezing" off fat cells. I mean...come on.

It doesn't BOTHER me, I mean, people can do whatever they want, but why do these silly treatments instead of just eating properly or heading out to the gym occasionally?

Because working out requires effort, and effort is too damn much effort.
I suppose I couldn't expect anything else from a fellow panda...=P

People typically don't know what they're getting into in the first place, not to mention when they start they don't have any support or ways to keep them in check.

80% diet and 20% exercise amounts to weight loss.

Do you mean that they don't have anyone to keep them in check...when they diet/exercise? Or when they just decide to continually stuff their faces?

Also enjoy what you eat on a diet. I lost and kept off 30 pounds just with a little more cardio and turkey burgers.

as a person who went from eating terribly and never going to the gym, to counting calories and going to the gym every other day, i can easily say its because everything about going to the gym sucks rhino ass, and healthy food, other than fruit, tastes terrible, and its a hard transition.

you also get these awful cravings for junk food, i need chocolate like a pregnant woman somtimes. thing is, i hate chocolate, alway have.

Really? You dislike the gym? I don't know, I love going to the gym. Afterwards, I feel like I can do anything. I love that feeling. Really gets the blood flowing.

The general public seems overly enamoured with quick fix solutions in general. This is hardly confined to weight loss, though it's a good example...look at all the Obama supporters who are unhappy that he didn't turn the world into the place the Care Bears live in within his first 3 years.

Both, I think...
the earlier really, if you have a group of people you meet with, talk to, report to or whatever, you're more likely to make sure and "be good" with your meal decisions and physical activities.

Whereas if you're trying to do it alone, you're not letting down others and disappointing them while you 'stuff your face'

I've found that contrary to doctor recommendations, if you want to exercise to feel good about yourself, you need to start with just whatever you're comfortable with. Otherwise, you'll absolutely hate going, and possibly even decide not to come back. Over time, you'll settle into the intended routine.

I think i found a system that works, eats loads of everything (i.e anything that's around) but take up a sport you enjoy.
I eat huge amounts, binge on apple juice and play badminton for a couple of hours three/four times a week. Sorted

Hmm...this is actually really sound.

I agree completely, because I go to the gym with two buddies of mine and one of my friends and I keep neck and neck in terms of pushing it, and my other friend is attempting to get on our level. I guess it's just more interesting this way too... Never thought of it like that.

Gyms come across as places where people who "look better, feel better and eat better than you can laugh at you whilst you're trying to become the same as them".
Not to mention, some people just have trouble losing weight/gaining muscle.

There are many variables involved.

What I'm trying to say is.....there's no excuse for fatties besides laziness.
Aside from motivation, metabolism, a number of medical-conditions or social issues, sure, absolutely no other reason.

You're welcome :) feel free to use this when trying to empower others other than just yelling at them profanities and making them feel generally like crap lol

The sad part is that the most ripped, muscletacular people at the gym tend to be good people.
