At College, I am learning Video Game Design, and they told us to do Primary and Secondary Research, which can include Forum Responses to my Ideas, to get the General Idea of what people think of it that are not in the same boat, so so I get Genuine opinions.
The Project I am Working on at the Moment is on "Narrative", which is Writing a Basic Story and Drawing Story Boards. We have also been limited on what we can base the Story on; it has to be set in "World War I", and has to be in some way about "The Victoria Cross" (The British and Original Version of the 'Medal of Honour). I have come up with an Idea for the game, going off 3 or 4 real life stories of Soldiers that got the Victoria Cross in World War I, and have Written up a Synopsis, which is the Second thing we are told to do (After Initial Research).
Synopsis:
"A British Officer in World War I is on a Top Secret Mission, with two of his men, to get to a German Bunker at one end of a long Trench-line and cut their wires so they cannot call in any Reinforcements or Support during a planed British attack later that day. When they get to the Bunker, they have to get so close to it to cut the wires, that they can clearly hear some German Officers inside the Bunker talking to each other, and luckily, one of the Officers men can speak German quite fluently, and finds out that they are talking about an upcoming attack on a British Trench inside the Nearby forest. After hearing this, they rush to finish cutting the Wires, and try to get back to their Trench as fast as possible, but accidentally stumble upon a German Sniper, luckily looking the other way from them, and they know Snipers normally work in twos, so they have to sneakily take out both of the Snipers, or they would not be able to get back without being shot at and at the very least have their presents know. When they finally get back to their Trench, the Officer tries to call for Support to help defend against the upcoming attack, but cannot get in contact with anyone, so he sends a runner to get the message bake to who ever is in Command, and needs to defend the Trench from the Attackers until help arrives."
What do you think? Please give me feed back on what you think of my Idea, and I will update this over the Next Six Weeks of the Project.
If you know of any Stories of great Valour from World War I, please link me to it, to see if I can draw information from it, and Make sure it is about a British or Commonwealth Soldier. Thank you.
EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to say that this is not a Full game, we are just meant to do a Relatively short Story Board compared to actual games, and this is just to train us to learn how to do this stuff, so think of this Synopsis of being about 40 minuets of a World War I game, and not the WHOLE game. Thank You.
