Worst/Best Beatdowns in Gaming....

...so the other day, I was playing Mortal Kombat (2011) story mode. The cinematic to start it off (where Raiden is absolutely getting mercilessly pummeled by Shao Kahn) got me thinking of other notable "Beatdowns" in gaming.

A few of the more memorable ones for me are as follows...

1. Kratos vs. Hercules (GOW III): Ugh...the Cestus part made me sick..

2. Solus vs. Derrick & Alex (Breakdown): Sitting there dying unable to help Alex as Solus wrecked her was one of the hardest parts of gaming for me to have to sit through..

3. Tamir vs. Poor Merchant (Assassins Creed) This was just incredibly brutal and horrifying and is one that still shocks me to this day...

So fellow escapist's, what are your personal favorite beatdowns or alternatively, which were ones that were just tough for you to watch?

Half Life 2, Episode 2 Ending was touching.
I'm not sure how to describe it, because I don't want to sound like a....

The cinematics before the final stage in MGS 4 is pretty good, although I don't know if it qualifies as a beatdown since its pretty close...

1. Kratos vs. Hercules (GOW III): Ugh...the Cestus part made me sick..

Kratos vs A-lot-of-people. The ones that stood out for me were Poseidon, invisible-guy-that-you-take-the-shield-from, and Icarus. The Icarus one stood out for me because it was such a dick move. Not that the other things weren't dick moves, just that Icarus incident was especially dick-ish.

Every second fight in Yakuza 3 and 4. There was one mafia boss (the dude who has a fetish for giving women massages) who you smash repeated with giant marble slabs. You break several marble slabs over his head, which to anyone who is less manly than Japanese yakuza bosses would mean death. The heat move with the baseball bat or golf club is brutal too. You smash the guy's knee in and while he's writhing in pain, you line up the next swing on his face. And then there was that one where you knock him down, then stomp on his face, then jump up and double stomp on his face.

I love Yakuza.

Amaterasu vs Thor in Marvel vs Capcom 3.

(When I use Ammy, anyway).

Thor: 'Tis fitting that two gods meet in battle thusly!

Ammy: Arrrrooooooooo! (Translation: I'm going to mess your shit up, lightning boy).


Followed swiftly by a beatdown for the ages.
