Dark Souls.

Just a cavalcade of broke-ass design and completely wrong headed approaches to difficulty. I wouldn't have put this here, but the sheer number of people who like this game and rush to rabid defense of it just makes me hate it and everything it stands for.

Well, that escalated quckly.

OT: I'd say The first Witcher game. The story is okay, but the gameplay is mind numbingly boring.

Either that or some shitty flash game, but im not sure those count

Well if that's the worst game you have ever played . You have never played a truely bad game .

OT: This gen ,Two world 2 . That was a buggy mess of a game . While i'm sure the original was WAY worst , i avoided it because people said it was terrible . Apparently TW2 , is better than TW. However , unfortunately better doesn't mean good . Just less bad . And terrible was this game.

Weeeell... I did play Turok (2007), and that game is an affront to FPS's.

Mostly I do extensive research before I even rent games, so I mostly get unpleasant surprises like the above.

I saw my friend play it and it looked boring to me.

Would you prefer it if people liked it but didn't talk about it?

They can talk about it, that's fine. It's when I say I don't like it for X reasons, and they jump down my throat, calling be things like "casual", and saying I need to "learn the game" so I can "experience the sense of accomplishment."

I've had so many fans of this game up and dismiss any faults of the game. It's really frustrating play and talk about.

Single Player BLOPS, it's truly terrible, I love the stories of FPS usually, but I couldn't follow it, I didn't recognise the characters and I didn't even care.

Probably Gears of War. It's just so easy, but on the highest difficulty the obnoxiousness of the gameplay design really shows through. Remember the level where you have to defend the outcast enclave from a massed Locust invasion? That shit on the hardest difficulty wasn't hard because it was hard, it was hard because there were so many Locust shooting at you that you had to spend minutes at a time making out with Mary Jane the Chest-High Wall Next Door while your health refilled. But then you'd get blasted into oblivion by grenades and Boomshot rockets. I mean, sure, the Locust have their war-making strategies down pat, but that doesn't make for a fun video game, especially when the A.I squaddies were three different flavours of stupid.

And Tickers. Oh my god so many Tickers in GoW 2.

A close runner-up is Devil May Cry 2.

Well Starcraft 2 for turning the characters into cliche' spewing garbage, stuck in a lame heroic story. Then there is the backwards idea of making each part based only on one races campaign, along with the bullshit they said that it makes the campaign more epic or whatever. Topped off with the annoying Battlenet restrictions I had to put up with, even to play the single player. Every other part is average and I didn't care much for.

And for the people who like to gameplay central problems. I had this old Mac game called Dungeon something or rather with sound effects for each step that started driving me mad, so I had to turn off the volume. It had to be designed by someone that must of hated fun because you spend most of your time walking up stairs (can only press up) and then when you finally get somewhere you can easily get killed. I'll try and find the name.

Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly.
Glitches upon glitches, bad sound sync, nothing in the department of new ideas ("hey, let's recycle a villain from Gateway to Glimmer with "gotta catch 'em all" objection from Year of the Dragon! We're original!"), horrendous loading and the fact that it was one of my first games on PS2. I'm just glad I bought Vice City shortly afterwards and completely forgot about it.

I know that there are worst games but from the ones I played I guess the Sonic Adventure game on XBLA. I guess its my fault for playing the game many years after release but damn, it wasnt that far away from Sonic 06, I think that we were just young and dumb to figure it out back then just how bad it was.

The graphics I remeber liking at the time but playing the game is just a mess, all those issues of falling off are all present and the characters are incredibly sensitive.

Soulbringer. The controls and responsiveness of them were terrible and the game otherwise was boring.

I'd rather not get into a discussion about what you consider to be "broken" about the designs in the game, but I actually like the way it approaches difficulty.

I'll admit it has a large number of rather cheap shots, but most of the time they're fairly clearly telegraphed or noticed before running head-first into them, and I like that it's a game where I have to be careful and keep my shield up every time I go around a corner. I like that the environment is just as dangerous as the actual enemies, and that one misstep can send you tumbling to your doom.

The problem I have with other games people frequently bill as "hard" (let's say, for example, Devil May Cry/Devil May Cry 3) is that there's often a huge disconnect in the player character's ability and their enemies. To put it another way, I hate damage sponges that shred through the PC like they're made of paper. Comparatively, Dark Souls has very few damage sponge enemies and the great majority of the ones that are in the game are enemies that don't respawn once you've killed them.

OT: Should I be edgy like everyone else in here or say the actual worst game I've played?

Because my 'edgy' choice would be something along the lines of Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Morrowind, Oblivion, Super Mario Bros. 3, Final Fantasy XIII, Pokemon Black, etc.

You know, games that bore or frustrate me to the point of being unable to continue playing them.

But honestly, I can't put anything except Sonic '06 here. I'll never understand how anyone had the perseverance to actually finish all of the story modes in that game.

And this thread is filled with games that are nowhere near the "worst game ever" and closer to "I didn't like it". If Dark Souls or Black Ops 2 is the worst game you have ever played then you are really lucky or really young. I've played Superman 64 and I've played E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. My vote goes to Supes.
Edit: I've seen 1/3 of Sonic '06 through a LP and, dear god, it might make my list had I actually played it.

Happens every time someone starts one of these threads.I'm just amazed no-one had mentioned Dragon Age 2 yet

OT:Rise of the Robots.I honestly cannot think of a single redeeming factor that piece of shit had
