I found that if a band was huge at one point but is now playing county fairs, that's a pretty sure bet they're not going to be great.

Take David Lee Roth for one of the best examples of this. Just hearing his voice echo across the fairgrounds was bad enough, but hearing him trying to womanize and using foul language for every third word when it's an all-ages setting? Classy.

its kind of an acquired taste, but the Clarks can be bad live, unless you're a fan or a local person.

Or so I've heard.
I was just about to say the same thing. I can sort of understand it though, with how crazy long and fast their songs are, it must have taken a lot of tries and takes to just get the studio tracks right. But put all of that craziness together, and try to get it all nailed in one take...that's tough. Plus, things just sound different at concerts. That cacophony of sounds may sound good on the studio track, but put it over a loud sound system and add audience noise on top? That could be a bit much, even for the most hardcore metal fans.

I was just about to say that. A friend told me he'd seen them and they were hands down the worst live act he'd ever seen.

I think all bands suck live. I really hate it when you can hear the crowd cheering during the song.

The worse band I've seen live are Flyleaf who were supporting for Stone Sour, they just couldn't get the crowd pumped, it's not like they were the first band on either, Forever Never were on first and they had everyone going. Marylin Manson was terrible at Download 09, I was really looking forward to seeing him but he just sucked.

Pendulem and Trivium were crap too but that's probably me just not liking them so for fans they might of been great.
I went to see Pendulum not long ago, and i wouldn't say they were bad, just incredibly disappointing. Especially because most of their new shit is proper nasty.

Trivium is just a overall shite band anyway.

Well 2 odd future concerts ended prematurely and I think they only had like 6 stops so those are kind of bad odds.

Modern GnR are probably up there? Axl Rose is always late or throws a hissy fit..

I caught the end of Atari Teenage Riot's set at last year's Leeds Festival and they didn't come across well at all. It literally sounded like distorted noise with some strobe lights. I'd heard a few of their songs before and I wouldn't have recognised any of them.

Bob Dylan. "What is seen, cannot be unseen...."
Are you fucking me? Please tell me you are! Barely any artist can stay current for over 40 years, you have to live with the fact that Bob changes his songs from time to time. It gives a new experience to the audience. I honestly hate when people instantly despise his new styles. He is pretty much one of the only artists that after 40 years in the business can use the same songs he wrote those 40 years ago and sound different.

Also he has been on a non-stop tour (the neverending tour) since 1981. I think the ************ deserves some credit for that.
