Google stood up to the chinese on internet censorship, and they came out on top, and if google did that, would they? could they? not pay attention to the Stop online Piracy act if it were to get passed and go into effect. i know this sounds stupid and crazy, but as i said they stood up the Chinese, whats to stop them from standing up to the united states, whats your thoughts.

Did you completely miss that article about a lot of companies protesting against it? By going on strike? Google being one of them?
Clearly so.
Basically, yes, they've already paid attention.

Um, Google has shown a lot of opposition to SOPA. Like active, open, and obvious opposition. Like you'd have to try pretty hard to look for anything about SOPA and miss them. They've got an extension on Google Chrome that reveals SOPA supporters as you browse [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/115084-New-Google-Chrome-Extension-Reveals-SOPA-Supporters] and they've teamed up with Facebook and Twitter announcing they'll shut down for a day if SOPA is passed, to draw attention to the matter and give people a "taste of what's to come." They've also gone to congressional hearings and expressed their concerns for their ability to continue to run their business and provide their services from US soil.

At the end of the day, Google's number one goal is to make profits. That's why they withdrew from China (various government-sponsored hacking attempts were trying to steal user-data, and their highly protected search algorithm). Censorship might have been a bonus, but it wasn't the clincher.

Obviously they're against SOPA as it'll cost them money to respond to complaints. I think they'll do something, but they won't go as far as blacking everything out like some people have predicted.
