My previous PSU had 20 pins going into the motherboard when there were 24 actual spaces for the pins on the motherboard. I didn't think about the other four until I got a new PSU. So is it okay to plug the extra 4 pins to the motherboard when it previously only had 20 plugged into it? And if your wondering, I'm getting a 9800gt shipped to me and I've got a Pentium 4 (I know, I know...).

You should plug in all 24 pins, especially if you are getting a video card that draws a fair bit of power like the 9800GT. The extra 4 pins were added to the mainboard connector because of the higher amount of power video cards could draw from the PCI Express slot compared to the old AGP slot. I don't know which card you have now or if you are running on integrated graphics, but if you don't plug in the extra 4 pins and you install the 9800GT, you may run into power issues with the card.
