Yahtzee's reviews are great to watch and are really fun, but the bulk seem's to be made up of either puzzle, FPS or action games. I was suprised to see him review Guitar Hero 3 last week to mix things up a little. But who else would like to see him review a wider range of genre's such as racing, fighting, stratagy, or any other. He's already mention how he feels on JRPG's but I would personaly like to see his stand point on these kinds of gaming.

The day he start's to review what I would like to see reviewed is the day I stop watching his reviews.

Instant gratification is a plague.

Racing would be rather bland to review I think - there's not a lot to say about those sorts of games. JRPGs would be hilarious to see him review, but most of them are far too long for him to play and decently review in a week. I'm personally of the opinion though that any game he does is done well - he always comes out with hilarious comments and analogies (often not about the game itself, but infinitely funny nonetheless).

I just think it would be a nice change from the regular. A good top down stratagy or fighting game. Hell there's a few out there.

I wouldn't tell him what to do. He might come after me with a hatchet.
He knows his audience well. So I'm just happy he reviews whatever he and The Escapist ask him to review. He's already thrown us twice with Psychonauts and Peggle, so I don't think he'll let himself get too complacent reviewing the top Wiistation 360 game of the moment.

Let the nice man rant God's truth and have done with it. :)

I want to see him review whatever the hell he reviews, with total disregard for what anybody else thinks. I also hope he totally ignores this thread and all other threads like it.

It's that "fuck what you think" attitude that he has, that is a part of what makes him great. If he pandered to people's wishes he'd lose his appeal.

Yes BUT if he reviews a JRPG considering his attitude to the .... things (Who can blame him) It would porbably cause my death through laughing which seems like a good way to go so bring it on

I'd like to see him review.

That's it. I have no qualms about what in particular to review, I just like to watch the review itself.

i would like for him to review some more "Under the radar" games, such as his review with psychonauts, but so far hes gotten around to most of the games ive been curious about, such as jericho and assassins creed so for now i think i can deal with it

I like his reviews, but I was always curious to see what he could pull from under his sleeve about other genres. He's starting to sound a bit repetative on the same sort of topic.

I'd rather him review things he can come up with decent material for, rather than some kind of checklist of genre and formats.

The games that Yahtzee reviews are chosen by the Escapist overlords. So the question you should really be asking is, "Should the Escapist choose more genre's for Yahtzee to review?"

That's why I posted this instead of Emailing Yahtzee, not that he'll ever read it. Maybe this might pick up some sort attention.

The Escapist has surprisingly wide tastes in games judging from his reviews.

Though, for the record, he mentioned that he passed up Mass Effect (Piss Effect) on his blog to review FEAR because he wanted to talk about that series, so that seems to indicate he has quite a decent level of control over what he's reviewing. Maybe he gets a list of new releases and picks the one he finds most amusing/agonizing.

Though, I fear he may shirk his lauded journalistic integrity if he reviewed a JRPG, as he did mention that he hates them so, especially since he has terribly high standards for success, and most of the ass-hattery that comes with playing JRPGs is often put up with by us JRPG fans because we enjoy the pointlessly simpering aesthetic that comes with them. Somehow, Yahtzee seems highly unlikely to see that point of view, which is why I further the notion that reviewing JRPGs is rather pointless because, despite .hack//GU getting tons of 5's and 6's across teh board, I will still play and love that game to death, and so will most of its fans--so what is the POINT?

The real problem with Yahtzee reviewing genres he may not like is the same as with every other game reviewer who thinks Final Fantasy X should be more like Halo (see: bringing a gun to a swordfight). He should be able to play games he either likes or has no opinion on from the start so he can be less biased and more of the fun-loving Yahtzee we all know and love. If he reviews games that cause him to groan upon hearing their names, he'll be less likely to like them for what they are and the game would have to reach the level of the fan-dabi-babulous before he could say anything balanced about it. And this is one of the problems with game reviewers in the first place, so Yahtzee should just review what he doesn't hate.
