Would you mind black actors portraying superheroes who are normally white?

I was watching Donald Glover on Comedy Central Presents and it reminded me of the campaign for him to audition for the new Spider-Man. I personally don't mind because a character like Peter Parker is the everyman. I can't really think of any heroes that are normally white who absolutely have to be white.

What are your thoughts?

The color of the hero is part of who he is. Only races who are that hero, should be that hero. At least in the case of Green Lantern. White guys should only be Superman, etc.

I don't mind, so long as they're a good actor; however, it could admittedly be somewhat jarring.

Acting ability is not determined by skin colour. Because of that, no, I wouldn't care.

Well, I wouldn't be against it if it didn't shove a particularly wide instrument right up Continuitiy's rear end.

If there is one thing that stories about superhero's are known for, it's the fact that they are meticulously close-knit ('cept maybe X-men).

*sigh* Fan-rage on one side, racist accusations on the other.

Meh, it wouldn't ruin the movie, it's just that the characters aren't supposed to be any other ethnicity.

It would be a little weird at first. But if they were good actors then I would not mind.

As long as that superhero's race isn't apart of his actual character, I'm all for finding the best actor instead of finding the best look alike. But some characters, like black panther, need to be a certain race, it would be weird to have a white African king and would probably racist.

Would it matter if superman was latino or asian for that matter?

Continuity is the only reason i argue against changing a heroes ethnicity. I am not racist.

My favorite green lantern is john stewart but i never read the comics. Ive only watched the dcau and movies.

You're pretty much asking people if they are bothered by the colour of a person's skin. No.

Captain America could use an ethnification, as sending a blonde-haired blue-eyed superman to fight the nazis seems a bit counterproductive.

Pretty much what I think aswell.
I didn't mind Michael Clarke Duncan as The Kingpin in Daredevil though. Apart from the skin color he's a perfect fit.

It wouldn't change a movie or a character. I honestly didn't mind Michael Clark Duncan as The Kingpin in Daredevil and I was one of the few people I know who was open to the idea of Will Smith as Captain America. If the character is well established enough it really doesn't matter what race they are.

Some characters personality is directly related to their race. For example, if the character that Samuel.L.Jackson plays in Pulp Fiction had been white then it would have just look really, really odd. If not outright stupid.
Then you write in the character differently. You would edit the script after casting to rectify the race issue, if there is one.
