Would you pick up an Xbone if the poor decisions were rescinded?

Yes, yet another Xbone topic. Hear me out.

I was reading through another batch of Xbone topics, because they seem to come in waves, and I had a thought:
Even if Microsoft changed their minds on the issues that have the gaming community all riled up - DRM, connection requirements, yada yada - I still would not buy one simply because some thick-headed executives thought they could get away with this BS in the first place.

I guess that's the core of my question. See, I get that some people were looking forward to the next Xbox. I understand wanting something to be really good. I even understand wanting so bad to buy something, even if the general opinion for that thing is not good. So maybe if MS rescinds some of the BS, maybe if the tweak the DRM, does something with the connection requirements, buying the Xbone will be alright.

I guess it's a two-question topic, then.

1: If you're not buying the Xbone, would you buy it if MS changed some of their policies?

2: If you answered yes to question 1, what would have to change to convince you to buy it?

No, I would not buy an Xbone even if microsoft changed their DRM policy. They've tipped their hand, they've shown exactly what they want out of the industry, and even if they change their policy now, it's still something that they want, and something that they will pursue. The reason so many people reacted so badly to the Xbone was because of the staggering number of stupid decisions they piled on at once. Even if they rescind those decisions, they'll more than likely slowly reincorporate them, because it's easier to get people to eat their bullshit in small increments.

So since I don't support the business practices that microsoft is obviously heavily invested in with the xbone I can't buy one, even if they make slight changes to it. Microsoft isn't going to get a second chance from me with the Xbone.

So, wait, is your question essentially: if all the things you didn't like about something were different, would you buy it? Because... I think I would like Nazis if everything bad about them got changed. But then they wouldn't be Nazis. Welp, there goes Godwin's Law.

Eh... Kinda, I guess.
I'm not a fan of the 360, but I bet there are lots of people who love it, and wanted the Nextbox/Xbox 720/whatever to be awesome. I'll bet there are some who still want the Xbone really badly, but there's just too much keeping them from buying it.
That's sorta what my question 2 was asking, for the people who still wanna buy the Xbox One.
And none of us are stupid, Microsoft wouldn't change EVERYTHING. I actually want to hear what would have to be changed to convince you the good outweighs the bad. Like, maybe the connection issues just aren't a big deal, but you HAVE to be able to share with your friends, or make used games more accessible.

Sorry if this doesn't make any more sense than before. I think this is sorta a big deal, but I know sometimes my thoughts don't come out just right.

1. Some? Probably not. All? Then I could probably be persuaded.
2. Get rid of the Kinect, ditch the online requirement, reinstate used games...basically take back everything they've ever said about the thing. :p

Nope. I don't like Microdicks and won't buy their console. I didn't care about the Suckbox, I don't care about the Suckbox 360 and I won't care about the Suckbox One.

This is basically word for word how I feel as well.

No, Microsoft have pretty much shown their true colours. I love my Windows Phone, and I love my Windows 7 desktop. They'll still have me as a customer on those platforms. However, if they move towards this rubbish on every platform, not only will I stop being an Xbox customer, I'll stop being a Microsoft customer.

After Windows 8 I was still willing to watch and see what MS would do with the XBone. I still had hope that someone in the company wasn't demanding draconian controls over their consumers but they proved that wrong. They don't give a shit about consumers and they don't give a shit about gaming. I'm a consumer and games are one of my life's passions. This means that MS have come out of the closet and outright told me they don't give a shit about me.

I will be keeping my PC, likely switching over to a Linux build when Win7 starts to fall behind and buying a PS4 next generation because at least Sony is trying to show that they are listening and that they care about their consumers and don't want to see them gone.

I haven't just had enough of XBox. I've had enough of Microsoft and I'll be glad to drop them and their awful products from my life for good. This ain't no boycott or anything, it's just that I can get the same product except better elsewhere and that's where I'll get it from now on.

It still comes down to whichever machine has the better exclusives. I have a PC for most stuff. At this point I expect I'll get a PS4 sometime well after launch when the price has come down.

I guess it's possible. But if they took all the bad things away there wouldn't be much left except a black box that plays two games and possibly more in the future...

Nope, that they were willing to do these things is too much, considering that they can turn around a year after launch and do 'em anyways were they to back down now.

1. Yes, obviously. If the things keeping me from buying it are changed, then obviously I would get one. Not buying one out of spite would just be silly. That being said, quite a lot would have to change in order to bring me around.

2. Specifically, they would have to let me actually buy my own fucking games. I don't want to have to ask permission before getting rid of a game I don't want anymore, either by reselling it or giving it to a friend. Getting rid of other things (always online bullshit, kinect bullshit, etc.) would be nice, but they're not deal-breakers for me.

That said, I'd have to wait at least a year and a half or so before buying anything, no matter what changes. Probably longer.

If ALL the bad decisions were rescinded?

Why yes, yes I would. Because it'd be free. And I'd need to breathe it in order to stay alive.

Why would I trust a company that revealed intentions I am 100% against? I can't trust they won't try this again in the future.

Let's say they took all the bad junk out.
All the stuff I know about and the stuff I don;t know about.

I'd still wait probably 2-3 years before purchasing one because it won;t have many games I'm going to want to play for sometime (past experiences) and I want to see if it's going to break as easily as the 360.

1: If you're not buying the Xbone, would you buy it if MS changed some of their policies?
Yes, but they would have to change so much - the DRM, Used games issues and always on Kinect are real sticking points to me - so much so that if the ps4 has them too I just wont buy a next gen console.

2: If you answered yes to question 1, what would have to change to convince you to buy it? Rescind the connection req- this year when I moved into my student house I had 2 weeks before the internet guy came - if I couldnt have played single player games because of that Id'd have been livid.
Secondly, I dont want that chuffing Kinect. 1) I'm from North east england, people cant understand my voice, let alone that machine. 2) I dont want my channel to change because someone says watch TV. I was talking to my friend about this the other day, and what happens if youre in a game lobby with no headset (so voices come out of speakers) and someone yells 'xbox go home' through their Mic? Will everyone in the lobby sign out of the game?
Thirdly, I'm a student. There are usually 6 or so games a year I want to buy, however I rarely want to pay upwards of 40 quid for them. Used sales/lending to my mates are an integral part of what I want given that the consoles dont have Steam-like sales.

Poor decisions huh? Well, they have charged people to use xbox live for so long that i doubt their main disgusting practice will change overnight. The new problems, that have everybody twitching spasmodically, are just a continuation of the old bad practices. But there was no competition before. Nintendo were living in gimmick land and Sony had a system that couldn't even run the shit games properly so unless the competition pulls its fingers out we will have a rerun. Microsoft having no real competition has led us down this path and that has to stop this time around or there won't be a games industry worthy of my money and effort.

To the main questions though, no...Microsoft won't be getting any more money from me. There isn't much they can do to change my mind other than go bankrupt and now their company sits alongside EA in my mindset they have already crossed the line of no return. But the problem goes further than that for me. It's not so much the companies that are at fault but the entire industry and i'm finding it harder and harder to find games that actually challenge my abilities enough to warrant spending any more money on them.
