Would You Save Someone?

This post is a little hard to explain, although the question itself is very simple.

I am writing a zombie apocalypse story focusing on two characters, one male one female, both friends since primary school. The basis of the story is that there is a zombie apocalypse and both of their families are turned, but they are not. The boy's first instinct upon learning of this danger is to rush to her house and save her, before they try to escape the country. It was based on an odd thought I had while watching Zombieland, and because my parents were in Spain, I wondered if there was anyone else I would actively try and save in the event of a zombie apocalypse. There was, my best friend, a girl I've known since primary school.

So while this could apply to any sort of disaster scenario, I thought that with the mild resurgence of zombie apocalypse threads, I would try this one, which has never been done before. (Search bar approved, yay!)

The question then, in the event of a zombie apocalypse, assuming your immediate family were either out of the country or already dead (or in some other way far out of your immediate ability to save) is there anyone who you would rush to try and keep alive, no matter the consequences?

I live in the middle of fucking nowhere, my friends are about 7 kilometres away from me or so (supposedly, humans walk about 5km an hour).

So I think it's safe to say that I'm fucked. However, a bunch of friends and I have all been friends since the first grade, and we also frequently shoot zombies in the face in Left 4 Dead 2. I also assume that maybe these guys would have some weaponry or something in their basement, 'cause all I have is an airsoft pistol and maybe some crowbars or something.

It's the zombie apocalypse. Bring friends.

No, if I could I would rather go lone on this, most people would leave me behind in an event like this either way so I am not left with many options.

There's a few close friends i'd go out of my way to save, although I'd hope they have enough sense not to hang out in major zombie infested cities. I don't fancy the idea of rushing into a city.

Well, that's a hard one. There's a couple of people I would like to save, but some of them can take care of themselves. So assuming I have access to my mom's minivan I could probably save everyone I wanted to eventually.

I can't decide if there was one person I would immediately rush to save. I have 5 or so really close friends and so I think it would be process of elimination on which one to save first. I think I would go for the closest ones and then work my way to the others.

Assuming the zombies didn't leave me paralyzed with fear, which is very possible I'm afraid, I would try to protect my family.

There are quite a lot of friends I'd want to save >_> Even if most of them live miles away, spread across the country Dx Darnit.

I'd probably end up being the one who's saved. I don't have much weaponry here >_> And besides I can't run up hills without getting tired out. The Cardio rule also applies to me :<

Elaborate plans have a tendency to fail spectacularly.

i would say no not really if all of my family was already lost or whatever i dont have anyone like that at the time being...i used to, but well time changes things so i mean i would for someone just dont know who that is right now (all my friends moved away lol)

Assuming that my family has also been turned like in your story, it would be my boyfriend who is also my very best friend.

I'm sorry to be a cliche cheese, but I would go to any length to save him, even if that means blazing into the undead hoard armed with only a butter knife. I'd do it for him.

I have already risked my ass to save two people in my life, and I didn't even get a thanks on either one. Therefore, unless someone is REALLY special to me, I'm not risking squat for anybody else because they are just greedy jerks who think they deserve to be saved. Let'em feed the zombies for all I care.

I would likely try to save closest friend(s) or significant other... assuming they haven't turned either.

Likelihood is that I wouldn't because my three or four closest friends have significant others (currently) that would likely do the saving. The rest of my friends are too annoying to want to save. lol
