I no longer am a WoW player, but I am nonetheless interested by the mixed reactions to the WoW: Cataclysm preview. From looking at the youtube and WoW website commentary, it would seem that the gamer comments are being edited to show overall support, so my aim with this thread is to try and find unedited reactions to the latest upcoming patch. So, having said that, what is your opinion on the new patch?

I love it. I love the idea of old-world Azeroth being shaken to the core, especially with the frankly radical overhauling of zones like the Barrens, Desolace and (from what I've heard) the Burning Steppes. I can't wait to see it.

I burned out from WoW after about six months. That being said, I've kept up with the game, in case something interesting happens, and I have to say, Cataclysm has gotten my attention. I'd like to try my hand at playing a Worgen, and the idea that they'd be reshaping Azeroth, well, that's pretty cool for an MMO that isn't ending. Plus, flying mounts in Azeroth sounds cool too.

Can't say i've been keeping up with it, the trailer had kittens when I tried to watch it, and other than the Worgs and Goblins, haven't heard much.

What's happening with this reshaping thingy?

The event of Blackwing rising again from the depths apparently creates massive damage all over Azeroth, making lava and earthquakes appear all over in some areas while other areas like deserts get forests and water.

It does look interesting alright, but I won't be returning to play it in any case.

Sweet. Blackwing as in Deathwing? Demon Soul and all that?

Yeah, that whole thingie. It's a bit odd to me, I thought he was supposed to be dead.

I agree as well. After about four years of playing in old Azeroth, I think the game needed a new look. The new races look awesome and I'm excited to make a Goblin rogue. Though I'll miss old Azeroth and all the nostalgia, I think this is for the best. I'm going to have to explore one last time before it changes though....

Eh, I used to play WoW but the leveling was really... Becoming work. I got to 44 with my warlock then quit playing because of utter boredom... It took a long time to level aswell... Mostly because I just fuck around in that game... The PvP matches should give XP, it would also end those fucking evil twinks. As for the new one, it seems like it is really tacked on. Wargs and Goblins...? Seem random as hell...

Hee hee, they do now.

I love the idea because I've been through every square inch of the existing old-world terrains and would love to see them shaken up a bit. The idea of world-changing events is genius to me, and I'm surprised they hadn't really evoked it since the Gates of Ahn-Qiraj (which even that wasn't so much world changing as finally opening them to allow access to the end-game instance, I believe).

As for new characters, the idea of a new starting zone is extremely exciting after seeing what they did with the Death Knight starting area. The variety of quests and combination of storyline was extremely well done, and it sounds as if they only expanded upon those concepts. Of course, I try never to get too excited about an upcoming game, but I'm doing a bad job (and this presumably won't be out for quite a while).

I love that they're changing the whole world of Azeroth. I've only recently started playing so I'm immersed in everything right now. I like how the new races are good but I can see one problem with these new classes. In the Alliance, everyone will go Worgen for the first week. Guaranteed. And they'll probably do nothing but stand around transforming for a while.

Yes I too like the idea of fighting a level 50 tornado. (Not sarcasm) I unno', all of the changes seem like they just made a bunch of cracks in the ground and put up a few new quests and 2 new dungeons..... Wait... They give xp now!? If it's megre I could care less, if it's substancial enough for leveling, I might just start again...

Goblins? Meh..goblin go-cart mounts? Oh yea haha

Worgens? It'll soon be World of WargenCraft, unfortunately (or World of TauenPallyCraft...yea)

I think re-doin Azeroth is brilliant. Finally! Something for the new players! (and for all of my alts)

Idk what they are doing about end-game, but if they gave my main more to do besides HTOC, HNexus, HGundrak, Naxx, Naxx, Naxx, and VoA, then that would be much appreciated.

But yea, i'll buy it, and make more precise judgment then

I love the idea. going back and questing in the old world is downright PAINFUL after TBC/WotLK.

I don't know, I don't PvP :p I barely even do it on my 80 character. Despite that supposedly being the biggest reason for constant patching, it never was that interesting to me.

I did forget to mention the change that I absolutely hate: Flying Mounts in Azeroth. Now how can I show off my mad climbing skills if anyone can just fly to me?

I just love climbing around on the terrain finding places I wasn't meant to go.

Agreed. If they can put the effort to make the early level questing as good as it was even in Eversong I'll be singing its praises. I still pretty much exclusively level characters there and Tirisfal anymore.

Well, PvP lightens up the combat for me, I wasn't big on it... Because I had a warlock that got raped by those fucking evil Rouges. But being able to level off it would be good... Heh... I remember one time, I was jumping up the terrain and I fell in a hole... Couldn't get out, it was pritty much a triangle that was taken out of the earth... And there was 45 min left on my hearthstone. -,-

I'm sat at level 50(ish) bored out of my skull with how crap it is. After playing some Outlands on a friends account and seeing all the new stuff and them going on about how good it is I can't be arsed to push another 10 levels to get there.

There is feck all for me to do at 52, can't do the new PvP place as its full of 60s, and I've done all the instances at least twice.

I want this expansion, and turn Alliance with a Worgen. :)
