I'm excited. I've been looking for an MMO like the original WoW (and TBC) for years, and it just doesn't exist. Now it will again. My only concern is that the graphics are going to be 15 years old.

But the idea of returning to an MMO with a real community where you truly get what you earn, from effort, gaming skills, and social skills... it's pretty cool.

An MMO just like Vanilla WoW? So you want the experience of herding 40 players into a single raid over and over so that you can finally get stopped being called a scrub because a piece of your gear isn't purple?

Eh, go for it.

I was really excited for Classic for awhile as I've grown more and more sour on retail. Since I have been basically raid logging anyway, I picked FF14 back up and am having a lot more fun with that. Considering it is waaaay more casual friendly than Classic, I may not actually play it much when it comes out.

I'm just not sure I want to dedicate that much time to a single game anymore.

Yes. But I don't remember ever being called a scrub because of my gear. A scrub (or we used to use the term "baddie") is someone who is a bad player, and not because of inexperience, which is understandable if someone is new to the game, but because it's obvious that they don't put any effort into learning to be a competent player and/or to get along with others and work within a team framework so they can find groups and upgrade their gear.

The original WoW was a social game, and it was challenging. To be successful, you had to make the effort to pull your own weight and you had to get along with others, and there's nothing wrong with that, IMO. Plenty of other games where you don't have to do either, including the current retail WoW.

Yeah, I'm not looking too far down the road yet. I certainly don't have time to manage a raiding guild anymore. If I get into raiding, I will probably just apply to a raiding guild, and one that doesn't have too demanding of a schedule.

But before that, there is just getting to level 60, which takes like 2-3 months in vanilla. But I'm looking forward to it, especially putting groups together and running all the 5-mans as I level. And then there's putting together groups and gearing up in 5-mans once you reach 60.
