Ok... title was a joke... sorry, but its related.
On a serious note, have you guys ever watched a tv show or movie that you really loved but you watched it months or years after everyone was talking about it. Then when you most want to talk about it you have no one to discuss it with.

Over the last few days I have found myself watching through the show Firefly. I really got sucked in and it is really one of my favorite series now. Unfortunately... It came out 8 years ago and there is no one to discuss it with anymore.

Have you guys had any similar experiences? (or... (off chance) you watched the show and have thoughts about it?)

I have that with films like The Godfather, Kill Bill, and Clockwork Orange. Or, more recently, Hard Candy, but in that case I got to spread it to a few interested people that overlooked it.

It's a shame not being on the same timeframe on these things, but it doesn't take away from the films themselves. It might even add to them for me, since I've been able to watch them expecting them to be good, and getting all the references, but not being blinded by hype.

I was that way with The Matrix. I didn't see it until it'd already been out a few years, and no one really had much to say about it anymore, other than "That scene where he bends over backwards, and the camera moves around him, and you can, like, see the bullets moving through the air? Yeah, that was cool..."

On the topic of Firefly, though, I wrote my Independent Study in college on the crew of Serenity, so I'm always willing to talk about it. If you've seen the full series and the movie, I even have a theory about one of the episodes that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. So, y'know, if you wanna talk Firefly, I'm your guy.

Haha ok. Yeah I watched all the episodes and the movie in a span of about 3 days (I was traveling and had little else to do when I got stuck at airports because of snow). So what is your theory? Also, was it just me or did the movie not seem to really fit with the series as well as one would have hoped. The series had plenty of time for characterization and really make you identify with the characters. The movie had to apply to audiences who had never seen the show so they had to build all the relationships from scratch. Idk, I guess I just didnt really enjoy the movie as much as the show itself, and the whole story about the secret that river knew just didnt seem to fit with how she was in the series.

The Dark Knight.

Didn't understand what the hype was all about, it is a Batman movie, after all. So, I didn't go see it... until much later.

The movie was shockingly, surprisingly amazing.

I didn't see Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog until pretty late. Not having anyone to discuss it with made me sad.

On another note, Neil Patrick Harris is the sexiest thing ever.

Well inception just came out on dvd so there's your answer as to why (saw it myself for first time like 4 days ago)

I tend to find that with a ton of shows that are a season or so behind here in the UK compared to the US - I'll watch them online then find people going "oh em gee did you see that episode??"

Yeah, I watched the whole series over a long weekend. I went from being completely unaware of it to completely obsessed in just a few days. As for the theory...
In the episode "Bushwhacked", the crew discover a seemingly abandoned ship. When they board it, they specifically mention that it looks like the people just vanished, since there's no sign of a struggle and there are no harmful chemicals registering. They later say that it had to have been Reavers, but as anyone who has seen the movie knows, Reavers aren't subtle and people generally put up a fight when they're around, which means there's no way there would be no sign of a struggle. We also know from the movie that Reavers are a result of a reaction to Pax, which causes a vast majority of people to just lay down and die, without any sort of struggle, and a very small percentage of people to go stark raving mad. My theory is that the ship that they found was intended as an experiment, trying a new form of Pax, or maybe just trying the same old version and hoping for better results, but there was a leak onboard the ship. One person went all Reavery on the rest of the crew, but they were already becoming lethargic, so he killed them all quickly. As for the bomb that attaches itself to Serenity when it docks, that could easily have been rigged up from technology never directly addressed in the series. I think they mention it's a fuel line. There has to be some way of refueling ships mid-voyage, so that's not too far fetched. But yeah, the long and the short of it is, the Alliance was experimenting with Pax again, intended to unleash it on a new colony, sent it along on a passenger ship to save money and space, and there was a leak on board. One person goes Reaver, the rest lay down and die.
Sorry it's so long, but it's been bouncing around my head for the last four years :p. Like I said, if you wanna talk Firefly, I'm your guy.

I'll discuss The Sopranos with you, good sir! My favourite TV show EVER. :)

Also, yeah, this exactly. I got into it late and nobody I know other than my godfather (who bought me the DVDs) has seen it. And he lives in Canada.

EDIT: The Mighty Boosh, too. I used to watch that all the time, and I even went to see them live. Suddenly one of my friends bounds up to me one day and starts raving about it, telling me I "need to watch it, it's like... the funniest thing EVER". I was like, "mate... I LITERALLY have the t-shirt somewhere at home..." :p

Precisely the same here. I started watching the Soppranos and I love it.

Also, skins. I started watching it because my girlfriend told me it was good, and it was good and I could see for miles!
She also recommended Flash Forward to me. So far, similar opinions: Very good, but much later than everyone else saw it! xD

Have a look at Rome the HBO series... lots of good blood and sex... Zuleikha Robinson appears in later episodes.

Boondock Saints. I watched it years after it came out. Ironically, I also only watched Inception the other day too.
