It's just conservatism, isn't it? Conservatism has its good sides, but it also means even when there's a shit tradition resisting all the warnings of how shit it is until something finally goes so wrong its shitness can't be avoided any more.
It really is. It is 100% the GOP here in the US that block ANY regulation to stop the eating or handling of dangerous animals or any hunting regulations at all really screaming " It is my god given birth right of my forefathers to do
whateverthehelliwant!!!! "and waving their yellow " don't tread on me flags!! while they go ahead and eat their snakes, armadillo's possums, and squirrel brains and could care less if it kills them or spreads disease to others. They often seem to think that their right to endanger others is more important than the rights of others to not having their whim's imposed upon them. Oh and if ANYONE else so much as annoys them with something they did, they ALSO seem to think they have the right to shoot them for annoying them, because you know, what they want is the only thing that matters here.
It is ironic though that it is the same guys in the US who want to go kill and eat whatever they want that are ALSO the one's calling it the " Chinese virus" and blaming them for doing the same thing they do here.
Seriously though most hunters in the US do not even know they can get a disease from the animals they are hunting or be infecting their families and even when they do, it makes no impact on their habits, but they expect others to do so in a far away land because it doesn't affect their own habits personally. If they are the one's who are expected to change, all hell breaks loose.
