hey guys, tomorrow I need to interview my grandparents about there time during World War 2. My grandad was in the British Navy and my nan was in a town that was being bombed. I would like you guys to give me some ideas about what questions to ask them. Preferably questions that keep them talking and arn't just one word answers. Thanks alot.

"Did you ever think you where going to die?"

"Did you ever kill a man and do you think of it alot?"

"Is Quentin Tarantinos view of Hitler in the new "Inglorious Basterds" correct?"

"Do they serve Tea of Coffe in the Navy?
and if so, how strong and with/out sugar or milk?"

"Did you ever see the Tirpitz?"
"What town did you live in?"

That film is quite obviously completely historically accurate.

Ha!

It's not, as you probably realised. Nonetheless, I still really really want to see it.

Yeah, I don't think it's that correct either. I mean, the pussy-guy from the office killing nazis? Yeah right..

Here's a question I've wondered about: "How long did this six years feel to you?"

For your grandfather: "What did you do in the Navy?" (From there, just go over his service record, the people he worked with, what he did, the daily routine, what contact he had with family back home and so on.)

For your grandmother: "How did life change in WW2?" (From there, go into rationing, bombing, how peoples' outlooks might have changed, where she worked, how her family took it, etc.)
