X3 Terran Conflict issue

I'm really sorry but I don't know where else to ask this where there's an actually active community.

I recently got X3TC and am enjoying it. I'm playing as a humble merchant, just sold my Discoverer and bought some lazors. I installed the lasers but they don't seem to want to be selected and fired. What am I doing wrong?

The mercury TS doesn't use player controlled targeting, the lazor is in the turret slot that you cannot directly fire.

If you go into the ships command console there should be turret options, set it to fire at enemy and then whenever you come within range of an enemy ship it will automatically fire at them.
