OK, after 2 years of faithful service, my 360 is starting to crap out on me. When starting up ME2 (one of my most anticipated games ever), I was treated to a system freezeup with those dotted white vertical lines across the screen. This was repeated for 3 restarts. THEN it suddenly kicks off nicely, and over a week I enjoyed many, many hours of spacey RPG goodness.
But having beaten that without a hitch, I decide to go back to Bayonetta and beat the last levels as well on hardest, and bam - freezeup is back.
Googling revealed that this is a common problem, usually meaning that your RRoD date has been scheduled. This is something I've been counting on since I bought the box, but I still haven't found a satisfying answer (net opinions seem to differ, as usual) to if moving my old HDD to a new console will screw up my saved data. I know downloaded content can be re-downloaded, but since I'm kind of a completionist, most of my games have saves and achievements I'd rather not replay to get.
So if I place my HDD in a replacement unit, will my saves (or other stuff) be affected? Would really love to hear from people who have actually done this and not just read Microsoft's statements
