Hi memebers of the escapist.

I havn't really been keeping track of games recently or playing many but I am after a good stealth game to tickle my taste buds.

What would your guys recommendation be?

Thanks.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution comes out in May I think. There's never a better time to pre-order than the present.

Splinter Cell, try Conviction and Double Agent demos and see what you prefer. Double Agent isnt a very good game but it is more focused on stealth. These games are cheap now.

You can always wait for Deus Ex.

Splinter Cell: Conviction is a good one. Or you should try Batman: Arkham Asylum, the stealthly parts in that game are done quite well.

Good stealth games do not exist on the 360. However, you might want to look at these gentlemen:

The Chronicles of Riddick games are decent. Escape from Butcher Bay holds up a-lot better than the successor, Assault on Dark Athena, but since you get it for free and re-mastered in the new engine if you buy Assault, no need to skip either of them.

Sam Fisher and his Splinter Cell representations on the 360 have lost their touch. Double Agent needs to be purged and Conviction has more in common with Batman Arkham Asylum than it does with Splinter Cell, but it is still a solid game. The COOP campaign and Deniable Ops missions should not be overlooked for a quick stealth fix though.

There will be HD remakes of the real Splinter Cell games (read: The first 3) sooner or later. Though I think those will hit the PS3 and not the 360.

... by saying Conviction has a-lot in common with Batman, Arkham Asylum I was not trying to piss on it. It is actually a game that I turned to because of its stealth elements and of how fun it was to play with unsuspecting (or suspecting and panicked) Joker Minions.

Metro 2033 --- no, not really. It does have an amazing stealth element to it, but the game has not been ported well and will frustrate you. I just mention it because I'm a fangirl of the much more superior PC version.

Aside from these there is always stealth classes in Oblivion....

... and if you can be patient then.. yes... Deus Ex: Human Revolution might fit the bill. It was promised to, but what do we know, eh?

Hitman: Blood Money my favorite stealth game on the 360.

Thief: Deadly Shadows is backward compatible with some annoying graphical glitches (like seeing fire through walls and stuff).

Like someone said before, if you like ninjas, tecnhu z is pretty good. Velvet Assassin is good until the very end, if a little basic in its stealth mechanics.

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher bay is fucking fantastic. Its remake comes bundled with an expansion/sequel called Dark Athena on the 360. Get that game now it's like 5 dollars at gamestop.

All the splinter cells are either backwards compatible or native to the 360 as well.

Alpha Protocol has stealth. It's amazingly underpowered in the beginning and excessively overpowered at the end, but fun to use. Do know that while stealth is useful in boss fights, it does feel...awkward during them.

Stealth can be difficult at times because the enemy AI isn't always predictable (unless you just find a hiding spot, use Shadow Operative[footnote]Shadow Operative is a power that effectively makes you invisible for a time[/footnote] to walk around, hide again, wait for Shadow Operative to be available again and start the process over. It works, but is kind of cheap).

The shitty AI makes it not fun. Somehow they can detect you through walls with a drawn sword, but they can't figure out how to deal with elevation, so on the one hand it cheats, and on the other hand it's stupid and can't find you.

Well most mooks in ninja games are generally stupid anyways. Besides, the stupid AI can be fun: kill a guy on a rooftop, have all his buddies on the ground taunting you, throw his body onto them for an instant kill. It's as hilarious as it is stupid.
