I am trying to figure out a better way to play HD games like Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 without spending the money on a HD tv. I have done some research and found that I can run my xbox through my laptop if I use a video capture card (like easy cap or dazzle) or I could use an Xbox VGA cable (Problem with this is that there is no VGA imput for my laptop and I will have to go through USB...which I am not totally sure how to do). I am trying to figure out whats the best method to go about doing this with a budget of $25.

I am not looking for a HD video feed, rather I want to be able to read the game's text without squinting and to be able to see the whole screen without the bottom being cut off.

Any thoughts?

Not to sound like an ass, but buy a HD Screen.

VGA Captures cost way more then $25, and since you have no VGA input to your laptop (which NONE of them have), you can't do it for under $25. (as USB is not a video input/output drive)

My advice, save up for a monitor then output the HDMI to a 22" monitor (assuming it has HDMI, otherwise you can only use VGA with a HDMI Converter)

And while I plan to buy an HD tv eventually, its just not an option right now. Since VGA doesn't seem like an option either does anyone have any advice on the easy cap device?

Suppose you could use something like this but the video quality will probably be shit.

Like the other guy said you could buy a computer monitor, they're cheaper than a tv and just as good quality picture wise. Sure it's not a huge screen but it's decent size.

Right now I am dealing with a crappy screen. I have a big SD TV but even with an S-video cabale I cannot read the font that is used in many of the games. I am hoping that using something like an easy cap would at least improve that. As to the monitor, that's a great idea! But that will have to wait till later.
