Now it's official. In just over a year's time, the Xbox 720 console will be released. As the link above explains, it will be 6x more powerful in contrast to the current gen console and boast 20% better performance in comparison to the Wii-U.
Not being one to lag behind, Sony will likely follow suit with another new console/technology (perhaps not in 2013, and perhaps not even in the form of the PS4, but no doubt they will do something).
I personally can't decide whether this is good news or not. On the one hand, the prospect of new consoles is exciting, as improved graphics/performance/storage etc. will surely bring about a new era of gaming which many would claim is long overdue. It will probably also impact positively on the PC community, lessening the issues associated with console ports. But, on the other hand, there are considerable negatives. For one thing, the cost of the things are sure to be exorbitant for at least the first few years. On top of that, there are the issues of increased development costs, stagnation of 360/PS3 games production, increased prices of new games etc.
But that's just me.
