XBox Live account compromised

Today was fun. Woke up to find that someone had gained unauthorised access to my XBox Live account and spend $200 of my money on crap. The Xbox support people were fine, but apparently the investigation could take up to 25 days before they can determine if it was truly an unauthorized access (and therefore, whether I'll ever see my money again).

This ever happened to anyone else on the Escapist? If so, how was it, and did you get your money back?

Makes me glad I delete/don't save my credit card information on PSN/STEAM during a purchase.

Heh, I just bought RE4 HD on PSN the other day, and I went to hit purchase, and it was like "Thanks for buying, go download" and I was like "uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I didn't even give you my info, all I did was press one button. . . . what the fuck" yea, that's when I deleted my credit card info, lol.

OT: I'm really sorry to hear that, TheLoneSeeker; I hope, for your sake, Microsoft can get to the bottom of it and refund your money, I'd be pretty pissed if this happened to me :/

good luck with that. I've now waited nearly 6 weeks and when I called yesterday, stating that I saw my old Gamertag in use, they said they're working on it and should only be a couple more weeks. What a bunch of idiots.

You can password protect your purchases in account settings.

I like that steam saves my information. My shit is secure, i live alone. And theres very few things more annoying that standing up and trying to remember what pair of pants my wallet was in at 3am. ^_^
