I can provide the industry links to prove this, however, the simple question I'll ask this forum is:
If you spent $3,000,000,000 on developing a platform, would you be:
A) focusing on games qua games in the serious sense of quality
or
B) Sales
Hint. The answer is not A.
p.s.
Casual gaming / microcredit sales / DLC now accounts for 73% of all PC market share. Of the rest, MMOs make up a good 9.8% of transactions. Ye, games no longer matter.
p.s. I'll provide links / proof if needed. This forum seems totally devoid of factual information though, so I'll only care if you do.
