Saved my pay. Rummaged through the couch. Brokered a shady deal with a man named Flint down by the docks.

And finally! I can afford a new game!

I´ve had my eyes set on Deus Ex: Human Revolution but I´d like to get some input from you lovely people!

What do you think Escapists: If you could by one game, and one game only for the next month or so, which would it be?

Think hard! I´d rather not deal with Flint again any time soon...

If you've been keeping an eye on it, wait for Skyrim.

If not, then you could do a lot worse than Deus Ex.

Brilliant game, well worth the money.

Would help if we knew what kind of genres and games that you already have and what determines a new game? Do you mean like a new release or a game you do not own?

Well, I´m pretty omnivorous, but I don´t do online multiplayer.
The last game I bought was Portal 2.
Right now I´d like something that will last me a while. Something with a compelling story and interesting gameplay. (Skyrim is a strong contender but it won be out for a while...)
And I was thinking a new release, yes. The Gamestop bargain-bin has sustained me through the summer and now I want something fresh!

Well if you want something to last you got with Deus Ex Human Resources. Although remember about hype and don't think too much about. I would wait awhile for Skyrim if you plan to buy it on PC as you will then have some mods to play around with. Although if that is not the case then just decide which type of RPG you prefer and pick out of Skyrim and Deus EX:HR.

I know shooters and other genres are good too but they don't have the longevity of RPGs at least not usually.

I is a console fella so all I have to decide is for how long I can stand having these money burning a hole in my pocket.

But thanks for the input!

EDIT: And I agree about shooters by the way...

Well, what type of games do you like? For me Deus Ex was a shitty game, you won't find me recommending it. I even started a thread based on that and got clobbered for not liking it. Whatever...

How about Space Marine, it's gonna be out in a few days.
Heroes 6 will also be out in the beginning of October. Worth a look if you enjoyed the series.
TrackMania 2 Canyon will be out in about a week and the first TrackMania was a blast.

I for one am gonna buy all of these, but if I only had money for one, it would be: "Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad". Whaat?

EDIT: oh, console fella? Then Space Marine it is ;)

If you want that just get TF2, the only game where you can kill people with a fish!
Lets not forget Dead Rising. Team Fortress was too hard for me to get into. I sucked badly at the beginning and didn't want to invest the time to learn a class and get good. So I went back to halo.

Also, thanks for letting me start to derail this awful awful thread.

What didn´t work for you with Deus Ex?

Heroes 6: I´ve tried and tried but the series have just never worked for me....
Did not try TrackMania, but I think a buddy of mine has it. I´ll give it a shot and take it from there....

But Space Marine is a definite candidate! I even have some badly painted Ultramarines under an inch of basement dust!
It will depend on whether the one-player will be worth it....

You could do a lot worse that to buy Deus Ex: Human Resources. I must also push my personal GOTY Frozen Synapse, it will run on a netbook and is turn based so you can use a touchpad. Very cheap on Steam too.

Have you seen the new tutorials for TF2 as well as the vastly improved offline practice system? It's easier than ever to get into TF2 now if you can be bothered playing through the tutorials and a few rounds of offline practice (You can play Payload against bots now! :D)
Hmmmm. I haven't heard of that. I wonder if its PC only. I only have the game for xbox as part of the orange box. I do like how deep the game is and how active the community is. But do people still play TF2 for xbox? Or is everyone still on Black OPs and Halo. Which reminds me, I should play some Halo. Or maybe more Rango >_<
