I've been applying to the Police Academy here in my homecountry (Finland)
Today I got the news that I passed all the tests and got into the School I've been wanting to go to for more than 10 years. It's been a dream since I've been a kid to study to become a Police Officer and in just 2 months that'll start.

Have any of you fellow Escapees' ever achieved anything you've dreamed about for months or years?
What was it and how did you feel when you got the news?

Well, getting into Imperial College London was a pretty big day for me...

Still, best of luck, chief, try not to let workplace politics get at you too much.

Good job! Hopefully I'll have the same news as you soon. As soon as my ankle heals. And I get done with my army officer school. And my upcoming deployment.

Fuck, it's gonna be awhile. :/

Congrats!

I never really achieved any major dreams per se, but I found out that I'm the first in my family to complete a bachelors and masters degree, which I think is kind of neat.

Also never forget: While the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation OW OW OW STOP HITTING ME!

Achieving something I wanted for years? I "got in".

This sounded a lot funnier on my head, but it's free content so you people aren't entitled to complain.

There is crime in Finland? Their police have authority?

I thought they were just placebos.

Feel happy for fellow escapist who got into police academy.

then..

Start to feel frightened that cops are also reading my posts.

excuse me...I need to...use the toilet..yes..the toilet. you may hear many flushes, but that's normal...I'm not suspicious....go away.

The time I was accepted for a place at Cambridge University was one. That was a good day.

Also, the time I was accepted for an internship, giving me some work experience I desperately needed for my degree, was another.

Congratulations! I have a cousin who desire the same thing but at the moment they're not accepting new recuits.

Well my old dream was to cosplay at this year anime expo but that will have to wait for next year (too late at getting my uncle mate to make me a wooden prop of the character weapon). Well I suppose before that was actually going to a real anime expo. None the less I was pretty much over the moon when the day arrived.

Congrats on the achievement man. ^_^

And I graduated with my bachelor's. It was an interesting experience. It felt surreal getting my degree because it takes so many years to get that you feel like it's always a far-away in the future thing. Then you get it and for a few months after, you're still thinking that you should be writing papers or studying for a test.

Course now after being graduated for a year and unable (for various reasons, mostly home issues) to get a job, the fact that I have a degree rings a little hollow.

In a similar situation my childhood dream was to become a video game designer. Video games were the only thing I was really passionate about as a kid. Now I am working on a game that I plan to have published on steam and other outlets with a demo that should be out by the end of the summer. So I am on my way there just like you.

Also just thought I should toss it out there congratulations dude you are living the dream literally!

That's awesome! I've always wanted to be a detective, but the cheap ass Irish government have a hiring freeze on public sector workers (including the Gardaí, our police force).

However, just yesterday I was accepted into the civilian version of a Master's programme designed for law enforcement. So even if I won't have the authority of a police detective, I'll have the skills!

Congrats dude! Although 'Police Academy...' *Snigger*

I always wanted to be in the Armed Forces, and when I got a bit older I though I would attempt to become an Officer in the RAF... I got in first time after the grueling selection (25 started on our selection, 9 made it until the end of the week, 3 got in...) and it was one of the best feelings ever!

I hope it's everything you expected it to be!
