When was the last time you spent some time staring at our sky and counting the stars? I haven't done it in a long time and I probably should sometime soon before it gets much too cold.

What are your favorite formations, your favorite specific celestial bodies?

I'm too much of a novice in that regard seeing as I only ever learned enough to find the big dipper <.>

I do quite like Venus though.

Your turn! :D

I have to leave home by 5:30am to get to work on time. Luckily, that's the absolute best time of day to see the stars in my area. On a clear morning, the sky is an absolutely beautiful tapestry, some planets being perfectly visible and everything! To answer your question though, twice to three times a week (I need more hours or another job e.e)

I've always been a fan of Orion as constellations go. As for stars in general, I like this little fact that blew my mind the first time I read it:

Everything in the world heavier than hydrogen--gold, silicon, the carbon that makes up a huge part of your body, the iron in your blood--was formed in a supernova explosion light years away and billions of years ago.

With the light pollution in London, you've got to be kidding me!!

Seriously though, stargazing is something I haven't done in years...

I used to be quite into astronomy. My parents even got me a telescope and a subscription to an astronomers magazine.

i never really got a chance to use it though, the city isnt too great for looking at the sky.

I havent actually looked at the sky for a while though, but i may do so again soon.

All the time as it's what I like to do when drunk. Sadly never manage to identify anything, possibly because rolling around in the wet grass never seems quite as tempting otherwise. Which is a shame. But they do always look lovely!

I wish I could stargaze but I have never seen a night sky filled with stars... since I was born!

My country is too well-lit to see any stars in the sky, which is really a pity because they look wonderful.

I spend some time just gazing at the stars every night, it always makes me feel at peace before I sleep. I don't really have a favorite one though, to be honest though I stare at them every night I have not learned enough about them. I've been meaning to learn more about the stars, but something always comes up when I'm about to start.

Last time I did it properly was a month or so ago with my then girlfriend, we laid on the beach, pretty drunk looking up at the night sky, she had to listen to me spouting all kinds of nonsense about the big bang (I'd recently finished reading the god delusion). It was pretty nice.

As far as constellations go... probably Orion since it was the first one I learnt to find.

Yesterday. You could just see the outline of Uranus. 'twas pretty cool. Also, I remember when I was in Scotland last year, and because there is little light pollution where I was, you could see all the stars in the sky. I want to live somwhere like that someday. I don't think I'd ever get bored of it.

As I live in Northern New Jersey, right outside of New York City, there is too much light pollution to see anything of interest.
