Imagine you are a boss in a video game;
what type of game are you in?
what is your boss-name?
what do you look like?
what is your back story?
what is your stage like?
what are your special moves / mechanics?
how does the player defeat you?

as for me
game type: scifi shooter
boss name: geK0
looks: black and green jumpsuit, cybernetic arm, large sniper rifle, helmet
back story: I'm an assassin, somebody with money wants you gone, I'm not very creative.
Stage: Urban area with tall buildings.
special moves / mechanics: I fight like a coward, I take shots from afar and am constantly moving. I set traps and I have the support of lesser foot soldiers who's purpose are to distract you while I wait for a clear shot (If I have to shoot through one of the soldiers, I WILL). I use special camo to blend into my surroundings (like snake's octo camo), and I am able to stick to the side's of buildings (like a gecko...or spiderman)
how does the player kill me?: By spotting and shooting me before I'm able to shoot him/her.(more than once of course, this is a boss fight after all)

Edit: should this have gone in game discussion/forum games instead? = \
If a mod could move this, I would very much appreciate it.

game type: JRPG
boss name: Mine; Flailing Mage. [sub]THATS NOT YOUR REAL NAME!!![/sub] Fine, Ryan Andrew.
looks: Me. "hulked out" version: A Dragon
back story: An experiment sent by obligatory boss baddy "X" to inflitrate your little JRPG group then destroy it.
Stage: Several. I will attack several times before you realize it is me.
special moves / mechanics: Does whatever a dragon can do: Fly, spit great balls of fire, etc.
how does the player kill me?: It's a JRPG so I assume my character will remember all the cliche'd "good" times I had with all the other characters in your group and I will either:
A. Kill myself so I won't have to kill your party, or
B. Realize the error of my ways and join your party to take on the big baddy.

Edit Answer: and yes, next time take this over to the game discussion forum.

Hmmm, didn't have to think that long for this:

game type: Third person sci-fi action adventure (CQC based)
boss name: the Mad Prince
looks: Black cloak, tall, slim, armed with a sword, plus lots of telekinesis
back story: I'm the player character's best friend gone mad (reason's too long to go into)
Stage: A massive warehouse with machinery, crates and other industrial packaging lying around
special moves / mechanics: I can zip in and out of combat very quickly, very fast sword and foot work, will use telekinesis to throw detritus at the player character
how does the player kill me?: I won't be killed, instead the player needs to reduce me to enough health to trigger a conversation mentioning a certain dead person
tricks to win fight: Follow instantly when I'm hitting and running, will take me by surprise when I stop

Game type: FPS in some weird dungeon/steam punk setting
Boss name: Lord Nick Theodore Wentworth Johannesson XIII
Looks: Dashingly handsome with clothes fit for a prince.
Back story: I'm a rich aristocrat. You want my support, and you are ready to get it in a violent manner.
Stage: The fight starts in my mansion, and then continues in the streets of a town that is not victorian london at all, just very similar.
Special moves/mechanics: I fight with a rapier and a pistol. At first I just run around slicing and shooting, but when I've taken enough damage I'll punch you through a wall so you land outside and I'll follow. That's when I get a minigun. And a flyiing battleship. And the town is filled with explosives.
How to beat me: With bullets. Lots of bullets. In the mansion you gotta learn my pattern and attack when I'm open, while in the town you gotta hide in buildings and shoot at me with a sniper and then get out of the building before I blow it up. The airship is mostly just to scare you, but you stil have to watch the sky for the occasional cannonball.

If you win I'll surrender and join you. And then we'll fistbump and I give you free stuff to beat the big bad. Most likely an awesome weapon.

Game Type: Platformer/Shooter
Name: Demoman of Chaos
Looks: Giant monster
Back Story: I came, I saw, I hated, I destroyed
Stage: Chaotic void with fire and tiny moving platforms, with plenty of enemies.
Moves: Destroying your platforms little by little until you fall to your doom. Firing energy blasts all the while.
How to Kill me: Simply pour massive amounts of whatever weapons you have into me before I kill you or take out all the platforms so the void kills you.

Defeat me, and I chase you as you hurry out of the imploding void in a timed jumping sequence. I fire a few blasts. You can shoot me to slow me down and make some distance (as I am marginally faster than you). Manage to escape phase 2, and the world is saved and I am trapped in the void for another thousand years, or however long it takes for the sequel to come out.

Type of game: FPS

Boss name: Longshot

Looks: Flowing black trenchcoat with a dark, scaly humanlike body within. One glowing read eye in the head.

Back story: Bounty hunter from the outskirts of the Antagonist Empire. Brought in to deal with this rebel hero. Lures the player into this warship full of traps by successfully kidnapping the leader of the rebellion.

Stage: The inside of a decrepit, half destroyed space warship. The stage is filled with blade traps, sentry guns and missile carrier drones. Many holes in the stage fall into outer space but artificial gravity is functional.

Moves/mechanics: Long range sniper with massive damage but slow reload time. Jumps from jagged platform to jagged platform in between shots, shooting cluster grenades from a launcher. When faced off at close range a very difficult quicktime event featuring a long curved sword is launched. Failure to win this event leads to losing a third of your health.

How to defeat me: Stay behind the cover provided on the stage while in the sniper phase. Using holographic decoys (they are unlimited but reload slowly and you only get three) you could make me miss and have to reload, letting you close the distance. Don't stay entrenched too long or the grenades will flush you out for a sniper shot. Firing missiles at long range will oblige me to move but sometimes I will stand my ground to knock your health down.

Once you get closer the sniper rifle is discarded for the grenade launcher. Avoiding spawning robot drones, one could jump onto an adjacent platform and either fire at me or jump again for the quicktime event. Once you empty your clip into me I activate gravity pulse which sends you back quite a distance. Rinse and repeat.

Ways of destroying me include winning the close range melee QT event twice or shooting my considerable health away. Ammo and health drops are granted sparingly in the beginning by the drones. By the time I'm down to 30% health, the drones stop coming.

Looks: Only a Silhouette sitting in a huge tank.
Back story: An officer that rose quickly in rank thanks to his masterful tactics, he was the one leading the attack on your home country/town.
Stage: Fortress on a mountain
Special moves / mechanics: Driving a new mega-tank prototype that is extremely powerful but slow, and having a literal army at my disposal.
How does the player kill me?: Destroy my army, and my base, and then taking me.

As you destroy the tank an ejection pod shoots out of it meaning i might come back later in the game/in a later game.

Game type : Third person action platformer
Name : Shadow Paladin
Looks : White body armor, with a tower shield attached to right arm (think Gundam) and a blade in free hand, grappling hook in the other, blue body suit under the armor, with obligatory streamer coming from back of helmet.
Back Story : A guard for a top secret installation (that's not part of the story, it's literally a secret location found by exploring
Stage : Landing pad of said installation.
Special Moves / Mechanics : Circles slowly towards the player, then speeds forward, attempting to ram or shield bash the player. If succesful, follow up with a launch attack that chains in either a grappling hook combo, a aerial distance maker via a kicker, or a body tackle out of the air.
Will also lash out with the hook if the player jumps to close to me, swinging them away a good distance.
How does the player beat me? Roll away, or let me hit an obstacle, then strike swiftly. Grenades under the shield or above it can stun or leave me open to attack.
Alternatively, dodge when near an edge, and I'll lunge right off. I'll throw the hook up to catch the edge, so you'd best cut it. (Victory in this manner leads to a follow up battle later)

Game type: A No More Heroes sequal
Boss Name: Pheonix Child
Looks: wears a white metal power suit, with a diving style helmet and a sword on my arm (Think a Big Sister, but more futuristic)
Stage: top of School Roof
Backstory: A teenage boy who becomes an assassin to impress a girl (Possibly Silvia)
Special Move/Mechanics: picks up Travis, and if he doesn't get away in time, impales him through the chest with the sword and throws him off the roof (Insta-Kill) when Travis is out of range of my sword I either pull out a handgun and shoot him or hookshot him, and occasionally summon smaller clones of me,occasionally kills a few of them to restore health.
How does the player kill me: Just by slashing away, dodging my attacks, and using wrestling moves on me. After I am defeated, Travis smashes my helmet, and sees I am just a scared teenage boy, and tries to let me live. However, I tell him to look at me, as I impale myself through the eye with my own blade, killing me.

what type of game are you in? JRPG most likely

what is your boss-name? Dr-barno

what do you look like? like one of those freaky mad scientists, definitely wearing a lab coat

what is your back story? a mad scientist noted for making many advances in many things in the
setting, but has secluded himself over the fear of the damage some of his worse creation, attacking any trespassers. also happens to have the plot coupon you need.

what is your stage like? really messy lab-like area, which forms a maze like area you need to pass through to reach me

what are your special moves / mechanics? I can summon swarms on small robot minions at my will, whic when alone, do fairly minimal damage, but the damages adds up quickly when they attack together. Also, when there's no robots out, I do fairly big damage over the whole team with bomb/like attacks

how does the player defeat you? any fire resistant equipment means less damage is done by me and the robot swarms have low health and can be defeated easily, but just leaving one will mean that they do not get replaced. melee attack against myself will do greater damage then whatever the magic system is being used in this particular game

game type: Realistic FPSRPG with a focus on parkour and melee, guns are rare
boss name: Vincent
looks: Small build but muscular, I wear sideways caps, tracksuit bottoms, and a Manchester United T-shirt. I'm in my late twenties.
back story: I'm a cowardly drug dealer, the player is after the guy who sells his drugs to me. Since the player has no way of getting to this person, he plans on using me.
Stage: Urban setting in a city.
special moves / mechanics: The scene starts by me spotting the player, jumping on a bicycle, and riding away as fast as possible. The player must catch me before I escape using parkour. This chase scene lasts until I escape, or until the player manages to knock me off my bike. I then pull a knife on him, and a fight ensues.
how does the player kill me?: I haven't got much health, but I also have the knife. The player must be careful not to get stabbed. The fight ends when the player either knocks me out, manages to rip the knife out of my hand (in which case I give up) or I take enough damage (and give up).

Game type: RPG in a traditional fantasy setting, think elves, dwarves, humans and generic enemy.

Boss name: Antrobar Thalessa, King Regent of the Stonewood Peoples.

Looks: Elven ears, eyes and height but with a human build muscle-wise and gold blonde hair. I start off wearing typical lord-like clothes but at 20% health I get a suit of plate armour magically.

Back story: The son of an elven woman and a human man, despised by both cultures I came from I sought haven in the land of Stonewood, a mountain range that leads down to the sea, where all peoples are said to be welcome. Upon arriving there I am welcomed into the home of a dwarf whom I met whilst travelling, he and his kin teach me to wield any weapon with deadly efficiency. While duelling in the Warriors Square of the capital of Stonewood the King noticed my proficiency and asked me to join his guard after a series of gruelling tests of skill and loyalty. After a few years I get promoted to his chief military advisor and upon falling ill he names me his heir, himself having no children, and ruler in his stead. the power granted to me by this goes to my head and I become corrupt, this is when the hero confronts me.

Stage: The fight starts in the throne hall of the castle but at roughly 3/5 through it changes to an outside stage.

Special moves/mechanics: My weapon at the beginning of the battle is a hand-and-a-half sword that is used for basic blocking and striking with some special techniques such as the standard unblockable front flip over and back strike, don't be silly I'm not that unfair this doesn't give me a combo, and a sword flurry that forces the player to have to block until it ends, I also have a charge attack where I run up one of the pillars in the throne room. In the middle I am running through the castle as my chief magicians cast the spell to bestow me with armour. For the final part ,in which I am in a set of magical plate armour, I wield a huge warhammer which I use for ground-pound shockwave type attacks and for huge damaging attacks that do ~1/3rd health each hit but are very slow.

How to beat me: In stage one you have to doge during the flurry or charge and attack me while I'm vulnerable but they do no happen often so you do have to use skill to beat me while I am using regular attacks (they don't happen often because my character employs a health/mana system). In the middle stage you have to run after me and use the ranged abilities of your character to whittle my health down. In the last stage you have to dodge all of my attacks but the speed I move at means you can get behind me if you move fast enough, of course I'm also armoured at the back so attacks do the same amount of damage but I am easier to hit.

Sorry about all those walls of text but I really enjoy thinking about this kind of thing. I've also been thinking of writing a book along the lines of this backstory because with a few tweaks it could be adapted to be a good character and I personally think it would make an ok cheesy/clichéd fantasy story which is the kind of thing I quite like, what do you;s think?

(Yes I know a lot of RPG's don't have a real boss fight as such but I'd just be one of those one-off enemies who is key to the story and has a lot of health).

Game type: Sword slash action game (a la Capcom)
Boss Name: Tora.
Looks: White knight style armour, pauldrons, helmet, plume, the works. My regal style is the opposite of the protagonist's rag-tag, scruffy style. I'm also surrounded by an aura of light that I use as my weapon, turning it into a huge variety of diverse weapons. Daggers, swords, spears, guns, I use whatever's most appropiate.
Back story: I am the hero's destiny; I am what he will become if he follows his current path. Once he gets me down to fifty percent a piece of my armor, possibly the helmet or a gauntlet, will crack revealing something shared by the protagonist (like a birth mark or a specific eye colour), this'll be like some sort of ancestral destiny type thing. I am not him, but a past incarnation; he can save the world, but will have to take my place and therefore abandon and destroy all that he loves.
Special moves/mechanics: I have a high-speed fighting style similar to the protagonist's, so I'm constantly moving, trying to break and get around his guard while he does the same to me. Occasionally I'll launch him into the air but he's as proficient fighting in the air as I am, so he's not completely vulnerable. We share shockwave orientated moves that can be used at range as well increasing the power of close range moves. Occasionally try to shoot him if he gets too far away.
Stage: A black void of a space until near the end where I shine a light into the sky, obliterating the darkness and revealing that we've been fighting in the hero's home town. All those shockwaves? Yeah, the town is pretty much destroyed. The player then has the interesting choice of using his full powers, including shockwaves, to defeat me, pretty much finishing off his town, or he could restrain himself.
Tips to defeat me: Keep your guard up, never stop moving, try to get behind me, but watch out, I'll be doing the same.

game type: Beat-em-up
boss name: Judas Dethpunch
looks: Really, really pissed off. Muscular, but lean.

back story: One day, the protagonist, with a band of allies, infiltrated the main fortress of a tyrannical empire. They killed the emperor and everyone who got in their way. Among their victims was the emperor's right-hand man, who was secretly plotting to overthrow the emperor and liberate the oppressed victims of the empire's rule. That man also happened to be Judas' father. Afterwards, the heroes left to go do something else, and emperor was replaced by someone equally oppressive, resulting in a big ass "Nice Job Breaking It, Hero" moment.

Stage: Hell.

special moves / mechanics: You fight Judas Dethpunch in a few various places over the course of the game. He's extremely determined to kill you, and it shows in how he fights. He's extremely aggressive and fast - a nightmare for anyone who's poorly suited to melee combat. He fights with a hammer and shield. At one point in the fight, you knock his hammer out of his hands, and it falls off a cliff. He resorts to fighting you with his bare hands. In the second-last fight, you actually kill him, but then you go to Hell at the end of the game to.... kill some big bad demon or something. After the "final" boss fight against said demon, you have to escape from Hell before the massive stone gate you entered closes for good. If you take too long to escape, Dethpunch appears to take one last stab at revenge.

how does the player kill me?: During the final boss fight, you knock Dethpunch into a river of lava. He climbs out. He's on fire, in a shitload of pain, and he's sprinting towards you. With his last breath, he throws one final punch at you, which you dodge. The Falcon Punch (his entire body's on fire, including his fists) misses, hits the gateway out of Hell, smashing it open. Having thrown every last ounce of his strength in that punch, he succumbs to the flames and bursts into a pile of ashes as soon as his fist smashes the gate open.
