(Relax, this is a hypothetical; But if you really are dying, I'm sorry.)

You have no way of knowing how you will die.

But you may pick one last song, to cover your exit from this world.

What is that song?

Smashing Pumpkins - 1979

EDIT: Take note this is NOT a Funeral song, but the last music you will ever hear.

I'll go with this:
Fitting for most situations, as long as I'm dying in slow motion...

It fits, no matter how I go. So long as clowns aren't involved, I guess.

Oceansize's "It's My Tail And I'll Chase It If I Want to"

(Yeah, I have no idea how to embed. Google, I need you!)
(eh, I tried a few things, then went out drinking.)

The ending song for Eternal Sonata. Say what you like about the game, but the soundtrack was gorgeous. And I think this song would lend a bit of peace to my passing.

I'd definitely chose something by Nine Inch Nails, but choosing a single song from their discography is difficult. I think I'd have to chose the song "Only".

I could play Rust in Peace...Polaris if I died in a nuclear-related situation.

The title theme from Ocarina of Time.

It's beautiful and contemplative, yet also uplifting. The perfect note on which to leave.

I'm going with this.
Since I like to think my death would be a sad one, I imagine this would be the perfect song to play as I lay there speaking my last words.

I am? Damn, what a way to inform me, doc.

OT: I think I'd like to know the how and when, because there are a lot of songs I could pick that would only work under certain circumstances. Like, if my life is fading slowly while I'm lying in a bed with my significant other next to me, then either "1979" or Oasis' "Wonderwall", or Peter Gabriel's "Book of Love" would work very nicely for me.

However, if it were in some fiery car crash or explosion while on my way to meet somebody that I haven't reconciled with after a fight years ago, I'd want something like A Day To Remember's "Welcome to the Family" or As I Lay Dying's "Parallels". If I was shot, Funker Vogt's "Fire And Forget" would probably be fitting. Suicide would be Hollywood Undead's "Bullet".

If I were taken hostage or in the middle of a gunpoint stand-off, it would likely be Hourcast's "Freeze". Drowning would be the John Butler Trio's "Ocean". A plane crash would be Kiss Kiss' "Machines" or Norma Jean's "Falling From The Sky: Day Seven". Being stranded on an island would likely result in the illogical choice of Pendulum's "The Island Part I (Dawn)".

Being in a skyscraper when it came tumbling down (either due to explosives or plane crashes, etc.) would be either People In Planes' "Pretty Buildings" or The Pixies' "Where Is My Mind?" Being betrayed by someone I thought was a friend would be "Wolf In Jesus Skin" by Polkadot Cadaver or "I Keep My Secrets Safe" by Saosin. If I was protesting something it would be "Prayer of the Refugee" by Rise Against. A one-on-one fight to the death with someone would be "You're Going Down" by Sick Puppies. Sacrificing myself to save someone else would be Lazlo Bane's "I'm No Superman".

Dying alone, being reduced to nothing but a flicker in the Obituaries, leaving my family behind would be Thrice's "The Whaler".

This more or less. It's a lovely song with a light undertone, so at least my final moments would be peaceful. :3
