You fly down onto an alien planet in your advanced spaceship, the main sentient life being weaker, less developed, and basically no match for you. You could wipe out the entire race with your power, or help them develop into a more intelligent race. You could simply leave and let them develop normal, or make them worship you as the god you know you are, ensalve them, take their women, build the city of R'lyeh and rule with insanity! MWAHAHAHAA!!!!!

So given this unimaginable power, what would you do?

Share the technology. That way they'll be a more prosperous trading partner for us.

Assist in development, but leave human ethics and morality out of it entirely aside from "this is what humans do" if any of them ask.

I would start out by learning more about them. Partially out of curiosity, but also to be able to understand how I can best help them and share what knowledge I have. I'd be particularly interested in their poetry and music, if they have any. If not, I would explain the concepts to them and see what they come up with.

Also, how is it you misspelled "basically" in the title, but not in your post?

Have lunch, and invite them to join me. We become friends. And then I leave, and come back every once in a while.

I will show them how to do basic medical care and let it play out from there hoping that it will have a major good effect and only a little bad effect on the planet.

I'd help them develop, partly because your description kind of makes them sound like Salarians.

I would instruct them to build a giant circular calender and have it end on some arbitrary date in the future, just to mess with them.

I like to call it the "Aztec" method to godhood.

I'd study them to figure out how they act. If they're like humans in that they're generally ungrateful pricks, I'd not help them out much. Otherwise, I would try to be benevolent towards them.

Let me consult the Prime Directive... I do nothing and leave. Man, that's boring.

Actually I'd probably try to avoid disturbing their society. Giving them technology will probability end up badly and killing them would be pointless. I suppose I might play superhero and help the little people but I know in my heart that'd probably end badly too. *sigh* I was god once, and I was doing a good job until everyone died.

I think that I would obey the prime directive to a degree, I would let them know who I am,and that they are not alone in the universe, but I would not mess with thier development. I would only intervene if they where going to destroy each other.

I'd leave. There's no way their society could benefit from my meddling and I'd probably end up making things worse.

Perform a few "miracles", and have them devote a religion to me.

My prime teaching: "Be good to others, do what makes you happy, but never at the expense of others without justification. Never take a life. Always find a way to move forward, both as a society, and as a person."

Have them erect a few statues, and dedicate a bunch of stuff to me. If I'm not going to be remembered here on Earth, I can at least take some solace that I left an impact on some planet.
