I don't know but the fact despite there being over 500 channels and only like 6 of them being focus on animation disappointing me. It also doesn't help that most of them are targeted to children and barely any of them show any adult anime.

Why, doesn't the internet at your house work anymore?

The majority of animation and anime is aimed at kids, so it would make sense for channels focusing on animation to show primarily kids shows, wouldn't it?

I just have netflix and crunchyroll and google for the rest. Not used a television to watch animation in almost a decade and am a hardcore fan of especially anime but all sorts of animation (those old French Asterix & Obelix cartoons are so good~).

TV censors a lot of anime, even in Japan, so you gotta go buy the blue ray to get all the cut content (and in some cases superior animation). What you wanna ask for is not more tv, especially not more USA style 4kids dubbing tv. What you want is just more stuff being brought over by streaming sites in a timely manner.

As others mentioned above, not sure if it is relevant due to how people take in media now, as television itself is in a transitional period to shifting to a platform where you can watch anything on earth whenever you want via internet.

As far as television channels go, more educational programming would be better due those who have limited resources and internet access are also the same people who need more access to educational programming. Not necessarily history lectures, though those are fun, but instead, more "how to" programs that are more applicable to helping with everyday life skills. This is part of why food and home improvement channels and programs do exceptionally well because people actually learn things they can use every day. "how to" design and build our future would be great programming. Pretty much an expansion of EdX and programs like MIT and Harvard has offered:

https://ocw.mit.edu/index.htm

As far as entertainment goes, I don't think there is enough positive futuristic sci fi and fantasy on TV. I like programs that promote forward thinking and help people dream of better futures. We need far more things to look forward to in these days of apocalypse promotion.

...Is it though? Plenty of adult cartoons, and most anime is definitely not aimed at kids.

I do think it is an unnoticed problem that things like Family Guy and Futurama are labeled under 'Children' in programming menu categories.

Anime is kinda half and half, though a lot of the more kid-oriented stuff is actually not localized. There's so many pokemon/digimon/yugioh clones out there XD.

This. A thousand times this.

Seriously, there are like a handful of channels for cartoons and some of their time slots are clogged up with tween sitcoms.

Yes, I know there are streaming services now, but what if I don't want to bother? I'd rather something simple as watch my beloved cartoons on tv and not feel overwhelmed by the number of shows on Netflix.

But I haven't trusted network executives in a long time, so I doubt that will ever happen...

Anime and cartoons are usually targeted to teenagers and man children/college kids.

It's because in general the western world is full of complete idiots who think that anime and cartoons are usually targeted to teenagers and man children/college kids. You can blame Walt Disney for that, sticking strictly to fairytales and children's literature (and all the other western studios who slavishly followed him) while other countries actually used animation to explore the full length and breadth of human experience.

Just not having to deal with advertisements alone should cancel out whatever mild inconvenience there is in clicking 2 things and then watching what you want.

You can just watch the same show you'd watch on tv anyhow so I don't get how you're being overwhelmed by netflix.

Fair enough. And I meant being overwhelmed by all the shows to pick from. Not to mention they're at least 30 minutes and I have a weird attention span. But that's just me.

I should look into getting back into Netflix....
