I was really excited when I heard that Avatar was coming to DVD soon, but I was disappointed to find that only a single disc edition will come out today. I really like the movie, but I'll wait for the special edition. What do you think?
-Note: This was meant to be a poll, but I messed it up.

No. The only appeal to me would have been the 3-D effects. Unfortunately I don't have a tv that supports it. Let's face it it's not as if this movie's intriguing and original story is selling many copies.

Yeah I'd say give it a few months, then get your greasy mitts on the blu-ray.
I don't own a blue-ray player, and I don't need one. You can get an up-convert DVD player, that converts DVD to 1080p for 100 dollars. Why would I spend $300 on another player and then build up my movie collection again?

Probably. It's a special effects extravaganza. And it's purty!

But I will definitely be picking up the blu-ray version

No, I'm not.
It was a good movie and all, but it wasn't at epic as everyone said.
Just another movie in my mind.
If I want to watch it again, I'll just download it.

I might rent it, seeing as I've yet to see it, but I most likely won't be purchasing it.

I'm poor and don't have any of those fancy blue-ray players. So considering that outside of visuals and Pandora itself the movie was generic, I gonna save my money.

Well with this being a gaming site I thought there was a decent enough chance you owned a PS3 so I didnt think it was too unreasonable. Also if you want the special features then the blu-ray release is obviously going to have a few juicy extras. But whatever.

No. A) The last DVD I bought was the Dark Knight, and the last one before that was the original edition of Empire Strikes Back. B) You will notice that those were both very good movies with good stories and characters. C) You will notice that Avatar was not a very good movie and did not have a good story or characters.

I already have it.....no I didn't pirate it.
Same here, but mine has Russian subtitles for when the na'vi talk.
odd. can you shut them off at all?
Nope, you know how there are always subtitles when the na'vi are talking? These are Russian instead of English.
Oh yeah, and the sound's off, and there are no credits, and the intro is fucked.

No, I agree with those who said that it would "age poorly." I won't buy anything I can't see myself being nostolgic about in 10 years.

No, actually the blue-ray edition only has both the blue-ray copy and DVD copy, there is no additional disc of special features or director commentary. I liked Avatar, but I want the special edition, not just the movie. This thread was really more about whether you would be willing to buy just the movie or if you want extra special features.
