What makes you feel nerdy [but awesome] when you are gaming, mine would be:

1) When I pull out a shotgun in any FPS I always mutter to myself "I like to keep this for close encounters" [I know it's also from Aliens as well as CoD4]
2) Someone is talking about an awesome jet I've said "Oh yeah I love flying that one!" before realising I've only flown it in HAWX

when i woke up one morning and actually wondered(for 1/2 a second) where my crosshairs were... then i realised there was no sleight of hand... and i wasnt a ninja... and then i was fully awake...

I had disturbing dreams (nightmares?) about chess.

After I obsessed about it for a few weeks over a previous summer I just started eating, breathing and sleeping chess. The dreams weren't even anything specific, just moving pieces and viewing from odd angles, feeling anxious and having this happen every night for weeks on end.

well in just cause 2 all weapons shimmer even in the darkest areas, as do crates of cash and scrap for upgrading your weapons and vehicles, although it's quite useful,

bioshock 2 reference then? i know the food does that, although if you found a 10 year old packet of crisps i doubt you'd pick it up and scoff the whole thing - including the wrapper - in one big crunch without picking it up at all, just having it dissappear

Or, you know, a gaming reference in general? There are too many games in the world to list that get your attention to pick up something important by making it shiny/ shimmery/ glowy.
