So tonight i bought myself a Razer Ironclad mousemat to replace my five year old £5 cheap as chips mousemat that's causing my mouse to act screwy due to it now being more worn than a dog-eared diary.

The thing is, this new mousemat cost me £55. Ouch! The reason for spending so much, though, is that a year or so ago i got a Razer Mamba mouse which alone cost something like £90 so i figured it's damn time to give it something respectable to glide along, otherwise... what's the point in a luxury mouse?

But this Ironclad was a spur of the moment thing. That kind of moment where you're browsing the internet at 2 in the morning and think "Oh, sod it" and click that 'buy it now!' button. I'm sure this spontaneous splurge will come back to bite me in the arse in the morning or near future.

So, escapist - what's the most you've ever spent on a whim and what was it?

Before I say, 55 euros on a fucking mouse pad? You must be Razor's wetdream.

OT: Well I bought about 8 litres of soda once because I was really thirsty.

on a whim?

I spent 100 USD once to buy a friend. And by buy a friend, i quite literally mean I bought the legal rights to his body. So i essentially bought a slave.

And of course I sold him back to his father and mother for 200 USD. though I havent gotten my money yet, so Im about to contact to better Business bureau and see if they can do anyhting about this. if not i'll have to contact the IRS for not claiming him on their taxes, and a civil court so that i can sue them.

EDIT:

now 100 USD may sound cheap, and selling him for 200 USD is like me giving him away you may say, but hes got so much and wear and tear in him, and of course that would have been the effort and time spent to undo 17 years of previous free thinking though. So a turn over rate on a toxic asset like that that that gives me cost plus 100% profit is quite a good deal. Though next time i will look into the Black market.

EDIT2:

before people freak out, its all a joke at heart, he just owes me 100 dollars.

Pounds Sterling, not Euros, which actually makes it even more expensive than you probably first thought...

But shit, welcome to the generation of disposable income. Recession? What recession!

8 litres of... damn, sure you were just thirsty, or did you host a wet t-shirt contest as well?

Ugh.

Last year I spent about $75 on an old Anime DVD collection. It was the first two seasons of Tenchi Muyo. It isn't in print anymore is why it was so expensive. Of course that was just a part of it, I also bought the DVDs of all of the spin off series. In total it probably cost me around $150.

The reason I was into it all of a sudden was because I had remembered watching it on Toonami as a child, I couldn't actually remember what it was called at first, it took me awhile to find it. When I did I looked up some episodes online which really got me hooked, it just had that late-90s anime aesthetic that I love so much, ahh nostalgia. So I got really into it for all of a month, so I bought the DVDs. I enjoyed watching them, I even joined a Tenchi Myuo forum for a bit, but I'm not sure it was worth the cost.

In retrospect, I probably could've just watched the episodes on Youtube.

Also, many years ago I had come across the F-Zero GX soundtrack, I loved the music for that game so much (it had really amazing music, mind you) I just had to get it... for $80. It wasn't a bad purchase but I'm not sure it was worth buying an imported CD. Again, I probably could've just listened to the music on Youtube. I was young, how was I to know? Alas I didn't have the excuse for the DVDs though.

Oh well. Live and learn I suppose.

Um... The new iPod nano. It's the cheapest thing they got, no touch screen, tiny little POS that's not even as good as their old version, just a couple milimeters smaller (which is a ***** to get at the buttons), can't even lock the buttons. It's $60 furking dollars.

No regrets, I love them both erotically dearly.

Yes, it was a spontaneous purchase... man, I was making good money back then...

I had a special $100 bill in my wallet. What was so special about it? I decided that that would be the bill I would use to purchase God of War 3. And I did! I took my change of course.

2 things...1 you have no grounds to stand on as what you did was a criminal act and 2. you should have got it in writing.
it is in writing. I have his contractual agreement that i could buy his body for any use i desires, present laws of any governing body not withstanding.

And then when I sold him to his dad, he made me a promissory note that expired 3 months ago saying he would pay me the principle sum of 200 USD for his son and interest equal to 18% of the principle and compounding interest for each month the payment was late total within a one year frame.

Originally it was 25 percent, but his father talked me down saying he would either pay 135 at 25% or 200 at a much there after deliberated 18%. he didnt value his son at either of those prices which is of course why I love the women folk, cause she was so emotionally attached to the good that she didnt want me to walk out the door and sell him to somoene else.

You may think Im joking, but Im quite serious, I have documents that could legally hold in civil court say I bought him and that I am to receive payment for him.

I spent 120 dollars on the entire set of Avatar: The Last Airbender DVD's.

And about a month ago I spent 12,000 on a car. I found out that my old 1992 truck finally gave up the ghost the day before.

Where do you live that any sort of document allows you to 'own' another person? Because that's basically illegal everywhere except the most backwards of third world countries. No matter what documents you had that would be illegal in both the United States and Europe at the very least. No civil court would uphold those documents.

I have property in Niger and through some rather shrewd legal wording my house doubles as a territory of Niger and a territory of the US.

Perhaps I need to go to a more global agency.

EDIT: I also love how muh discussion what basically is a joke deal is getting. Anyone else i tell usually doesnt even think Im serious.

but the whole "No owning people" thing comes into place. They could take the "Slavery was abolished therefore nullifying your claim and purchase"...Some guy named Abe Lincoln did something about it, or so I've heard.
See above about property in niger and shrewd legal wordings.

I'm assuming troll, but I'll bite, you have absolutely nothing that will stand up in court, you illegally purchased and attempted to sell a human. You are guilty of human trafficking.

In better economic times I bought a full-size, male human skeleton from Ebay for $80.

And before anyone freaks, it's not a real one, it's one of those full-size, anatomically correct, plastic/resin models you find in good science labs and Doctor's offices.
Normally I'm pretty frugal, but that I couldn't resist. He sat on my couch in boxers for about three days before I stitched him up a nice black robe with flared sleeves and a hood.
