Video game console fanboys are bad enough, but what happens when in a hobby community, the hobby subculture is based on a product which is made by one company? It's kind of like what happens with Games Workshop model fans, only Games Workshop is intended for adults, whereas Lego fanboys are a community based on a toy product intended for children as a core base of fans. It's not like Nintendo where people expect Nintendo to be something different from what it is, a family video game company that also appeals to adults, it's a situation where children's Lego creations are mocked as inferior to the artsy sculptures which adult MOC builders create as an art hobby.
It's a reverse age-ghetto, instead of adults being treated like children for enjoying a hobby intended for all age groups in their own way, adults are not accepting the idea that Lego is a children's toy, and attempts of children to share their creations of Lego online using flickr or whatever, are often neglected and seen as not having any worth. You know, Picasso once tried to paint like a child, why can't adult Lego builders accept the same concept that children create as well?
