List if you will, your 20 favorite games of all time. Rank them if you can. Do it.

There are tons of lists out there about some random group of 3 or 4 game editors favorite 100 games or what-have-you. I'm interested in crunching the numbers to see what THE PEOPLE (The well-informed and well-traveled Escapist masses) think are the best of the best.

Once this thread finally dies down and out, I'll crunch the numbers, give it a bump and edit this post with a definitive list based on the data. The Escapist forums are made up of the most intelligent, eloquent, and cultured group of video gamers on the Internet. Let us bask in the aura of our collective viewpoint.

Honourable mentions: Kingdom Hearts, Mass Effect ish, if I could combine the level hubs of 1 with the characters and missions of 2 with the combat of 3 it would get on my list. Shadow of the Colossus, Theme Hospital, Theme Park World, The Sims 3, The Walking Dead (ultimately too negative for me), Loved (flash game), In The Company of Myself (flash game), One Chance (flash game)

It's pretty rough, I don't think the human memory is perfect enough to guarantee these are my top 20, I'd nearly completed the list before I remembered Uncharted 2 for example (I really haven't played that many games when I think about it. Whilst these are all favourites, I'm probably only excluding 20-40 games)

Anyway, the line between how much I like a title is pretty blurry, but the list will be a general top-to-bottom affair:

1. Mount & Blade (all of em) **GAME OF THE DECADE (IF IT WEREN'T SO BLOODY UGLY)** The wonder of a full 200-man line battle in M&B:Napoleonic Wars is stunning. Line infantry lining up for volley fire, cannon balls tearing up chunks of earth and smashing down fortifications, cavalry milling on the flanks waiting for the order to charge, the crack of dozens of muskets firing at once, the enemy line completely disappearing in a wall of smoke from their muskets ... I don't understand why people play CounterStrike with their fancy guns that fire more than once a minute. Pfft. Women fight with automatic weapons, men fix bayonets and charge !
2. Planescape: Torment (who doesn't like a game where your inventory includes one of your arms, one of your eyes, your entrails, and one of your fingers ... btw you can beat people to death with your own severed arm) PC
3. Total War (all of em - only gripe I have is that I invariably have to play every damned battle to win on hard mode because the PC stacks it against your own forces' AI) PC
